Home made cold air kit

Anyone ever make one? I was going to try, but the bend right in the front makes it hard to find something that will make that bend. Also, i'd have to fab up something to bolt to the MAF, which wouldn't be TOO hard, but it's not like i can go run and get parts while i have no intake.
Anyone have suggestions or ideas?

It HAS been done - very nicely i must add - with PVC and rubber boot connectors. 8,000,000 better looking than any chrome POS out there...

Here it is - not truly cold air, as it just connects an open air filter with the throttle body, instead of sucking air from the bumper or something:
