I am new to this site. I am looking for a little help with some of the things that I am having issues with my 93 Explorer XLT

To start with today. I would like to ask about the insulation that is on the hood. It looks like the paint on the hood is being effected by paint. I don't know. The insulation has gone to crap and I want to take out the old and replace it with new. Replacement or other option is OK.

I saw that there was an older thread, but that was from 2005, so I wanted to start a new thread and get some current opinions.

Can someone help.

You can just take it out totally. Not going to do anything but make your engine a bit louder sounding.

Junk yard 92 and older rangers or 91 to 94 Explorers may be others but you get the drift.
One could be made out of a fiberglass duct board that is foil backed one side also.

If you must replace it, Dynamat sells under hood mat lined with Mylar to reflect heat. It will be quieter than the stock stuff too.
