What kind are you looking for?

Explorer Express. The hood isn't on their website, but there are a few threads on it here.

BTW, welcome!

The only hood we carry for the gen 2 Explorer is the cowl hood. I have searched high & low and this is all I could find. All others are custom made. This cowl hood is made out of fiberglass and will require filling/sanding.

Cowl Hood $425. + Crate Fee $29. + Shipping

The 89-92 Ranger is the same hood as the 1st Gen Explorer. Also have Explorer listed below with the same part #. I just ordered one from them a few weeks ago. They have 2nd Gens available also. Price is great but they only produce on demand so it takes a while to receive. I'll post lots of pics and a write-up as soon as it is received.

Do you sell a lot of these? Looks very nice but haven't seen much of them here.

My god that is awesome! http://www.up22.com/ranger.htm - The first hood, that fits a first gen X? How well do these things fit? No rerouting of the hinges or anything? How hard would it be to make it open upwards like a Vette or Viper? That's a pretty good price for a functional cowl, especially considering most everything else for our X's is WAY overpriced (HEADERS for ex.) Thanks for the answers!

I'll let you know in a couple of weeks.

I was in the market for a ram air hood, they make em for the f 150 s and lightnings but what about the Explorers!

Don't the cowls help with air travel? Or are they mainly for looks and letting out hot air? Now really sure of the purpose but they sure kick ars!

Ram Air is difficult to find. Let me see where I found a later model one. They don't make them for the 1st Gens.

Cowl Induction was first designed to force cold air into the intake. They will help cool the engine when at speed and allow hot air to escape while say rock crawling. 90% of users now only have them for looks.

Yeah but only 10,000 are willing to change the look of their X. And half that do not have the cash. And the other half think the EE hood is too expensive.

Oh well.:(

With cowls won't rain get in there?

I don't expect rain to be a problem based on the design of the hood.

Cowl Hood

The Unlimited hoods are built for X's through '97 for half of EE. I'll let you know how the quality is as soon as I receive mine.
