Heres the diagram that came w/ my neons....I understand everything except for the part where the distribution box hooks up to the battery. Where do I hook into the power? Also where have some you mounted this distribution box? If anyone has pics that would rock. Thanks in advance for your help.
Ok I was checking something out and I got more questions. Is it recommended to hook undercarriage neons up to an open slot on your fuse panel or straight from your battery? Calling all neon pros...I would be honored to have your assistance in properly powering them. Details PLEASE
The switch used in the diagram is meant to light up so the three tabs are ground, aux, and power. The switch should be labled as which tab is what.
The red wire from the distro box goes to the aux. tab of the switch. The black wire from the distro box goes to any grounding point on your X. Connect the power tab of the switch to the 8 amp fuse and the fuse to positive terminal of the battery. Last would be to connect the ground tab of the switch to any ground on your X. I would mount the distro box for the neon in the engine compartment, this way there is less wiring to run through the firewall.
I've got to say, something about a good-looking woman who likes to get down and dirty and mod out their own vehicle is just flat out sexy. If I wasn't happily married you would be is for some trouble.
For Blueline serires, you put all the neons to the distrbution block, then there is a + and - wire runing from it. Gound the - wire, and the + wire run to a swtich, from the swtich run a wire with an inline fuse to the + terminal on the battery.
Heres some pics of my X -
(Yes, those white lights are STROBES) Dead Link Removed
(My engine has white hotloomz all around it, and a black light under the hood makes it glow) Dead Link Removed
(An older pic, with me and my sisters b-friends GS-R (has new cams, headers, exaust, NOS, and soon to be turbo) Dead Link Removed
Neons were installed today.
They look great (blue...why? because that is what i like).....except for the rear one which doesn't come on at all #@!$#@!#@.
Few suggestions on how to test it and the hook up for it?
Also the rocker I hooked it up....only half of it is illuminated. I thought the whole switch illuminates, correct me if I'm wrong.
Queue the sympathy:
Last Tuesday I got a flu shot for free from my job and Yesterday I got sick as hell from it. I've been so sick these past 2 days but I still wanted to install these neons soo badly. There I was under my X....30 something degrees and my nose running.....sniffling...hands numb.....cough cough. But I was on a mission and no matter how sick I felt I wanted to complete it. Ok heres where you make me feel better
Oh....heres 2 pics of where I mounted them on the sides. The only holes I had to drill....I mounted them to the brackets used to mount my side step bars. I used zipties because it was faster and the clips that came with simply wouldnt work with where I was mounting them.
1. Check the distro box where the rear neon is connected and make sure the connection is good and the positive is on the + the negative on the -.
2. Check the wires running from the distro box to the rear neon and make sure there is no bare wiring showing anywhere and that it is not grounding out.
3. Try disconnecting one of the other neons from the distro box and connecting the rear neon to that connection (you good have a bad distro box).
4. After all of that the only other thing I could thing of is that you've got a bad neon tube.
As for the switch, it really depends on the switch but most rockers like that really don't light up that well.
alphasylum- you are the greatest nice pictures, good job on the install, let us know if you figure out why the one neon didn't work. what neon kit did you use?
Ok I haven't tried to figure out the back neon yet so
heres a pic with it not working. It was fairly still light here but I'm thinking these neons suck. I got them before I knew who was the best brand. They are Liteglow, if you think streetglow is alot better by how much percentage do you think they are brighter? I might have to sell these and get Streetglow.
Wow, those are really aren't that bright. I think the two best neon companies are LowGlow and Street Glow. I've got a LowGlow Radi-Color kit on my X and have had no problems with it. I believe Bmxboy is using a Street Glow Gold series kit. I picked the LowGlow Radi-color kit because I like the multi-color idea and that the multiple colors are inside a single neon tube, less to go wrong/break.
