I can adjust my headlights vertically, but my manual says that there is not a horizontal adjustment possible on the 2003 Explorer.

Anyone know different?

Nope, your manual and my Haynes manual says the same...no horizontal adjustments. I also checked the Ford Repair CD and it too states no horizontal adjustments.

Nuts!

Thanks for checking.

Seems like driver side headlight is aimed too far to the right.

Did you recently replace a headlight capsule? If yes, double check that you have the headlight assembly fully into it's final position and your mounting slide tabs fully engage the back of headlight assembly. It's difficult to see that the slides engage fully. I assume that vehicle has not been in an accident recently.

I had the same issue with the driver's light aimed too far to the right. I read the same thing in the Haynes Manual & my Owner's Manual stating that there is no side to side adjustment. I'm thinking that's crazy. I took my light out and discovered that I could, and did, adjust it. I'll get some pics today and explain how I did. Going to run some errands right now and will snap the pics while I'm out and post up when I get back.

Just grabed my Haynes Manual, on page 12-11 photo 16.1 and page 12-12 photo 17.1 both show the adjustment screws. Two screws for two adjustments, up-down, side to side. Book is for the 02-03 Explorer.

Pete,

Unless you are seeing something different than I am, the only adjuster in those pics is the vertical adjuster.

No, The lights are set in correctly. Just something that has always bothered me. I'm sure that they are set to Ford specs for the horizontal, but for me they are too far to the right and not enough on the road.

Jeff, send me you e-mail add and i can send pics and explain how i did mine. I am unable to load pics or i don't know how. Pbjohns@comcast.net

BigRondo, did you ever adjust the light horizontally?

I can adjust up/down but not left/right. I see the bolt for up/down adjustment. There is also another threaded bolt pointing directly towards the rear (90 degrees to the other bolt).

Can that one be turned to adjust the left/right? I bought a new lamp assembly for my 2004 Mountaineer, but it's definitely aimed too much to the right (much more so than the old one).

Annoying to have to deal with this on a brand new Ford part, but maybe there's an easy solution. Thanks for your help.
