You arent supposed to seafoam a motor for that long. 50-60 miles at most.

Sorry for my ignorance but what is the seafoam for? is just a motor cleaner? I looked for it on the internet but I couldn't understand much from their website.

Thanks,

Thanks,

It essentially breaks down and cleans out carbons in the motor, i had worse, wish i had pictures, my piston rings were shot and dumping gas into the oil, so basically my oil was gasoline, and my plugs were beyond shot, no electrodes and the gaps were way off. it was a 98 xlt with 200,000 miles and i would not doubt if the plugs were ever changed.

are u kidding me fram is the good s***!!! and seafoam for severe motor build up.. is greater than 300miles.. my friend seafoamed his mustang with 2 cans after 600, and still had carbon in his after he seafoamed it again

i use FRAM, but im partial to bosch too. anything bosch is pretty damn good at a decent price too. ive been partial to adding additives to my crankcase, but everyone raves about seafoam. i may have to try it next oil change.

FRAM oil filters are junk. Seafoam should not be left for an extended period of time (like 600 miles!). No more than one can of Seamfoam should ever be put into the crankcase. Also, Seafoam is much more effective when used through the intake, not the crankcase.

Oil filters are oil filters unless there high performance units for drag cars and what not, thats coming from a buddy in the business. seafoam in the crankcase will clean out different portions of the engines than if added through the intake. adding it through the intake will clean out cylinders and vacuum lines, adding it to the crankcase will clean out the crankcase.

I did not say there was zero benefit to adding Seafoam to the crankcase, I spoke to the most advantageous use of the product. Carbon build-up through the intake of the engine is more prominent, as there is nothing to help keep it clean over time (like oil does in the crankcase). The OP would have been best served to use half the can in the oil and half through the intake.

That seems to back my point; 1.5 ounces per quart of oil. That would mean no more than 9 ounces, or ~half of a can for this...where the OP ran 4x as much for an extended period of time!

If you are referring to the vague "Monitor oil for color and clarity and change oil and replace filter when oil looks dirty" statement, that again should support my claim. Oil is going to "look dirty" almost right away under normal use, let alone with Seafoam working magic in there. It will do the job quickly, and then it is time to do an oil change.

Oil filters are oil filters?

That's the dumbest thing I ever heard......if your friend in the business said that, you need to find a new friend in the business.......

(And Fram is the WORST)

why do such nice topics need to turn into a pissing contest, an oil filter is a filter, if someone has had a good time using one and a bad one with another than whoopty doo we should be kind enough to respect one another's opinions and not get in arguments

Well, no, an oil filter is not an oil filter; but here we go again... No sense in retyping everything again. Search for Fram filters and read the info already here. No sense in harping on another argument- if wanacustomx is happy with his choices, that's cool. I'll post some new vids in another Fram thread.

thanks joe, ive read that thread, i was more concerned why people need to be angry about why someone likes a certain product and feels the need to prove to them that their own opinion is incorrect

Probably because like most things, people want to think that they made the best choice in buying something. I've done that too. If it isn't what they own, use, or make a decision that they would, sometimes they have a hard time accepting other people's choices. I just did that this morning... :D

Lots of people run Fram without issue for a long time, I choose not to because of some things I've seen both racing and in tear-downs- I don't want to be that failure... I posted up some vids in the other thread, if someone hasn't seen.

For now, I'm happy that wanacustomx got that yucky oil and those yucky plugs out... :)

i look at it this way if the fram i use does fail then fram will be paying for a new engine
and Joe, you no you cant get in arguements

I get into too many arguments as it is- that's why I'm completely removing myself from any discussions about the 2011-2012 Ex... :)

Only Motorcraft filters for me. Same with plugs.
