Been searching for a grille guard lately, trying to find a good price. I found this one on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...tegory=33650&item=2443232898#ebayphotohosting
I don't know how good it is, or who manufactures it. Anyone know about these or what kind of quality they are? Seems pretty cheap, which could be good or bad. There are also a bunch of others like it. Also, just by looking at it, would it fit on my ex? It says it will but I can't really tell if it would.

grill guards are for soccer moms.

Get yourself a real bumper, with a winch mount or reciever built in.
they are popping up all over the place, most of them homemade, but many fab shops will build you oine, including CoryL on this site...

Grill guards rust, they dont protect anything, and they will likely cause more damage to your truck in an accident.

Just my opinion, I started with a grill guard and I loved it, until it started to rust......and every other truck out there started popping up with them. Also it didnt hold up for sh&* in any sort of accident or off road.....

I would look for something a litttle bit more vehicle specific and a trusty brand ya know. I found my smittybilt outland for $175

Where did you find that smittybilt?

Don't listen to Fortune. That Brush Guard looks good! It gives your truck a more muscular look. If it rust then paint it.

It does not protect your truck as much as you think it would but it does protect your truck in some degree. I have seen one accident in person, a Pathfinder rear ended a Taurus. You could actually see the 2 front bars etched (?) against the Taurus trunk. The Pathfinder got some chipped paint on the bumper and that's all.

i like the ones with the rounded bars, not square like that one. just my opinion.

fortune is right wholeheartedly... the pathfinder probably barely touched the tuarus.....

and i have been in a lot of accidents i know what kind of force a stock explorer can exert upon a smaller vehicle..... a brushguard would have just done more damage to my truck......

Well I got it. I saw several feedback comments from others saying they were very pleased with it, and I couldn't go that wrong only paying around 150 for it. I too know what the stock explorer can do to a smaller car. I had a miata go around a corner too fast and spin out, doing a 360, while I was stopped a light. It spun around right towards me, hit the car in front of me first, than me. Lucliy he only hit my bumper but lets just say where my bumper hit his door, there wasn't much left. The ex's only wound was a red paint mark on the bumper, which rubbed off. Funny how the miata's door was at the level of my bumper. Next time I got hit was a little different. I got t boned by an 87 suburban. The suburban did to me what I did to the miata. Except my whole side was takien out. The ex did not look pretty I can tell you that. Did about 4000 worth of damage if i remeber correctly. Was without the ex for a month.

Damn, to bad I didnt see this earlier. Im trying to get rid of my Westin Sportsman Brush Guard.

Was it chrome/stainless steel?

I got my Go Rhino 3000 for $400 of ebay. I couldnt be happier with it.

Its black.

Well you don't have to feel so bad about it, because I didn't want a black one.
