not just by "its off", well no duh on that one. but are there any methods of testing it and would i have been able to tell listening to it. but i was cruisin around the other night and the sub was goin on and off. the fuse on my wire was blown-replaced it and it still doesnt work. im thinkin that my remote came out of my HU cause the voltage to flicker too much as to cause the fuse to blow. one person told me i may have blown the RCA outs on my amp. but that wouldnt cause the amp to not come on at all, would it? the power cable seems to be fine and its pretty open where it is located so i dont think ive burnt it up. the ground should be fine i have the ground in the same spot for around 8-9 months and this is the FIRST problem i have had with my amp (wich i could say the same for my sub) but any help would be appreciated!

hmmm

well i was told, not sure how true it is....
but if you blow a peice of audio eqpt. that you can smell it and it should smell burnt, in a subwoofer you'd smell the burnt voice coils, in an amp you'd smell the peice of electronics that blew up.....in the RCA case i can't be sure....

heres how you can test your rca inputs.
either get a KNOWN good amp and hook it up...just to see if it plays.

or have a buddy run rcas from his car to your amp.

or simply hook up your amp in a buddys car...

i hope i was of some help, i know how frustrating these things can be.

goodluck!

is there usually a little red light thew indicates that the amp is on... if so, check to see if tehre are anymore fuses anywhere down the line. check on the amp itself too (if you havent already)

i had almost the same problem, you said that the subs would come on and off, my amp did that and it was the remote, the remote was not on all the way and if i took a turn to sharp it would turn off so i had to jerk the car back for the speakers to come back on... As for blowing one rca jack, i had something like that happen, except for the fact that it was my cable. When it was only that one cable only one sub would come on, and if i switched the cables to the amp it would switch subs. At first i thought that it was one of the rca outs on the amp. So even if it was on the amp, at least one channel should come on (unless both channels are blown) but the amp should still turn on. I blew an amp before, and smoke came pouring out from under my seat and the amp was behind me. I could smell it and when i turned around i saw the smoke and ripped out the wires as fast as possible. When you blow an amp, you can tell its blown you could just tell the smell, almost like an animal instict. Also if you have a all pro audio or some other kind of electronics store, they usally will check your amp for free. They did mine for free and it took less than 5 min. Good luck for the search of the cure!

huh i hadnt thought about a fuse on the amp its self, thanks ChuckyD. and kingsleysurf was the remote the one the came out of the HU or the amp cause i think the one on my amp is fine. but thanks to you as well.

welcome!
the remote comes out fo the HU and tells the amp when to turn on. If you blow it no big deal.. a good shop will be able to swap it around... i blew my remote but it was because i cut more then 1 wire at once by accident. :D

yeah i think it may have just come loose and when it was reconnecting and connecting causin the amp to turn on and off that the fuse on my wire from the batt blew. but there is a red light that indicates whether its on or not but where would the fuse be on the amp?

well the amps i have had, had them somewhere on the panel on one of the sides... are there any more fuses other then the one you blew??? is everything else in the truck working???
is the power light on the amp lit?

nope no power light at all, the only prob is where my amp is its not very convenient to get to. but i pull off my panel and check tommorow and see if i blew a fuse on the amp and see if i can get my HU out:rolleyes: here is where my amp's at
