My shift knob is loose on my 93 explorer but I found a good one at the junkyard. Can't figure out how it comes off without breaking it?

Edit: did some searching online and found it's glued and splined.. so, saw or luck.. or heat..

Do you have an Automatic on the steering column? OR a Manual on the floor?

If on the column, you have to remove the 2 pc cover on the column. It is a small bolt at the end of the shifter, connecting it to the column.

Manual, so on the floor. Since mine is sorta damaged someone did a clutch or some tranny work on mine sometime.

Usually the shifters on the first gens are easy to get off with a little bit of pulling.

might want to heat it up first then give it a hard ass pull. thats how mine came off
