I've got some leaves or whatever in the A/C blower (or whatever it's called). I need to clean it out. Any suggestions as to how to get in there?

You should be able to remove the bolts around the blower motor and pull the whole assembly out to get at the debris. Take a look at the diagrams over at fordparts.com.

Removed my blower the other day, it sounded liked leaves also. Pulled the blower out and nothing fell out, or could not see anything.
Made the same noise, went ahead and cycled all the AC and Heat settings. That did the trick, nice and noise free now.

Thanks guys, here's what I found:

Would be nice if these 4th gen Explorers had a cabin air filter.

That would definitely make some noise when the blower is on. I agree, I was supprised years ago when I first purchased my Mountaineer that there was no cabin filter especially considering my wifes low end 04 Corolla had one in it.
