How hard is it to drop the TC and split it so...

One question. Did you use your shift motor or the one from the jy case? I'm thinking that since 4lo is just gear reduction 2wd should also work. If you cut the brown wire, when you put it in 4lo you get 2lo so it stands to reason that if 4lo works 4hi should work unless the clutch pack is beat in that t-case. If that were the problem you should still have 2wd hi. Did you try removing the shift motor and shifting it manually? That way you can see if it is engaged correctly.

I used the shift motor from the jy on the jy tcase.

theres a good thread here called Borg warner 4405 Transfer case rebuild diary by glacier991 has pics,, buck

I saw that thread and is a very good thread that i plan on using when fixing my spare tcase

Might want to try yours or remove and shift it manually to test. Just a thought.

When it was going from 4 hi to 4 low and vice versa it was making a god awful grinding noise too. The TC is already dropped and hoping the JY will take it back as my core to at least get $20 back.

The second tcase is in and vehicle wont budge in 2wd. I can only get 4 HI and no 4 low. Even in 4 high it wont move. My question is even with it in 2wd, if the tc is bad, wont the bad tcase alone keep it from going anywhere?

Update: Got it going. In 2wd and 4 high. Just now no 4 low. Any ideas?

Does it hold in PARK?

I know a lot of people want LO range but if it moves in 2wd and 4hi, I wouldn't worry too much about it unless you plan to go rock crawling anytime soon.

Got the shift motor changed out. It works like it was supposed too. Im just one of those guys that if its not fully fixed to where it works then it bugs me.
