All people with the SOHC what miles do u have on it and what problems have u had? Also do u like the motor or not?

I have 105,000 and have had to replace intake manifold gaskets and tensioners. I love the motor personally.

Almost 96K on mine. The updates were taken care of before I bought it. So problems so far! :)

I currently have 61,000 miles on mine. Only had the intake manifold gasket replaced at 48k. The SOHC is okay but I would love to have the V8 (don't we all).

yeah but this is dedicated to the SOHC only.

Model year: 99
Milage: 102K
problems: 2 tranny problems, ignition broke, O2 sensors, and all recalls done

97 Sport with almost 105 000, i'm the second onwer and neither of us have had any problems so far. Also how do you know when the intake manifold gasket and stuff like that needs to be replaced?

Ok, just thought you might want some more info. If you don't, don't look at it.

97xplorersport:The intake manifold gaskets only made trouble with me in the cold weather. The simptoms for those are when u start it up it wants to rev up really high and then drop down quick and stall. It will repeat to do that several times. The tensioners rattle alot when u first start your truck up and go away after a little while. I paid $400 for the gaskets and the tensioners. You will probably have to pay to get them done too if they are faulty because it is out of your warranty.

120,760 Miles

Runs like a top. Absolutely no engine or valvetrain problems, except for one strange rattling sound which I have traced to the plastic fan blades warping. It wasn't the tensioners.

Oh yes, and this is on original stock plugs. This motor is a tank. I have never seen a motor take this much abuse and keep going like it is.

42,000
IAC and that is it.

Year: 1997
Mileage: 98,200
Problems: none yet

Its been dealer maintained too.

84,000 miles. Had to replace the rear o2 sensors twice in the past two years. Sligh oil pan leak and front diff leak

'99 75k on it and has the intake problem. It's not so bad though with it living in So Cal. We just keep it out of the cold and don't take it anywhere where it is cold. Someday I'll fix it....or get rid of it.

Oh yeah it also has the O2 sensor problem that keeps coming up. (i guess i should quit reseting the computer and just fix it though)
