I recently totaled my 99' Exploder because of this damn Juneau, Alaska snowy weather. I slid out of control going 15mph down a small hill and a snow plow decided to be in the middle of the road coming up. To make a long story short, I hit the dump truck sized plow and smashed the whole driver's side, smashed two windows, cracked my windshield, and did too much damage underneath to explain. So I now have a perfectly good engine, transmission, etc. I already have a friend with a 95' ranger that is going to buy some parts. The engine is a 4.0L V6 OHV with about 78xxx miles. How much should I ask for the engine and tranny? I did a quick ebay search and saw they were both about $600 each new.

Unfortunately, any price you ask needs to be tempered by your location. Your best hope would be to find someone local who needs it. I would be hesitant to buy from you due to shipping charges from AK to the lower 48. You would have to lower your price quite a bit to be competitive with prices here. On the other hand, you do have a very low mileage engine...

My friend lives in town so there won't be any need to ship it. I just need a price to offer him... anyone??

I have been trying to sell a '99 SOHC for several months now for $500obo. I can't get anyone to even make an offer. The tranny however sold for $800 the week I got the X.

how much would u be able to let the arm rest lid cover go for?

Ah, another Alaskan. Insurrance won't cover it?

how many miles on the motor.... i might be interested

does it run?

So you have a buyer...you just need to know what it's worth? That mileage is appealing. Has the timing chains been done to it? If so, I would say somewhere around $750 for it complete would be fair. If the chains haven't been done, I probably wouldn't pay over $500...if that. These prices are my thoughts as to what it would be worth to me. Others may feel it's worth considerably more or less to them.

It's an OHV so it will work in a lot of trucks. I have a 93 engine that I haven't sold, and I'd take $250 for it.

With your mileage I'd say $500 or so would be a great price there locally. That I know of a salvage yard would ask a good $500 or so, not much less if you were lucky. The trans is also good to sell if it's doing well, but don't expect more than $350 or so for it unless someone really wants it fast. Regards,

Damn! You're right CDW...I thought it was a SOHC. I defer to your pricing.

i had to shell out 700 for a sohc for my 98 xlt.
