Hi I have found a 99 EB with 122,800 miles. This thing looks like it has 22,800 miles on it. It is in excellent condition and needs nothing it has the 4.0 sohc and runs and shifts like brand new every power option works. I can not find one thing wrong with it. The dealer is asking $7,900 for it but I think I can get it for closer to 7k but I still feel that still maybe to much to spend on this vehicle with such high mileage. My question is would you take a chance on something like this and how much do you think is a fair price for it. Again it is in excellent condition but has high miles. Opinions. Thanks

he says it looks like its got that, its got 122xxx

I'd say somewhere between 6,500 and 7. There are way too many Explorers out there used to pay more then that for a 6 year old truck with that many miles.

Remember they were selling these new with 3k to 4k rebates back in '98-'99-'00. The trade-in values are quite low. AutoTrader is a good source for looking at local prices, like dman726749 said.

what can i say i just got back from a run
don't feel like an ass, i was thinking the same thing until i read it again ;)

Ok would anybody take a chance and buy this truck with 122.800 miles?

Personally, no I wouldn't, not for that money, I still feel $6K is even to high for it, do some comparison between that truck and an XLS model. Just paying for bells and whistles obviously. Look around, theres EB's going around here for around 8 with not near the mileage.

Local comparison

I'm also in RI and, for comparison's sake, I just bought a 1998 XLT, 90K miles, well optioned, in beautiful condition for $4700.

Not exactly oranges to oranges, but I figured I throw that out there...
