How much of a difference?

I am going to be lowering my 2001 sport 2-2.5 (back and front) inches in the near future and I am wondering if it is really worth it to toss in 70 bucks a shock for the Edelbrock IAS's.. Is there really THAT much of a handling difference? I have the money and I am really interested in buying the new shocks if they really make a difference. I am really trying to get my explorer to handle a great deal better.

Hey man i just dropped mine 2" in the rear and 1 1/2" in the front. I have stock shocks. As well as traction bar. I heard from a couple buddies that the trac bar will make a big difference. I will soon do both.

The other thing is that i don't know if i'd go with edelbrock. I know that EE tested them out or whatever and found that they are the best, but i still think i might go with bilstein. Any comments on this would help me decide...Thanks

What exactly does a traction bar do and where did you get it from?

I think he's talking about a sway bar. You wouldn't neccessarily need one to have good handling. As for the Edelbrocks, you don't have to have them persay. I'm lowered with KYB Monomax shocks and they're great. I've also heard that Monroe Sensatracs are good on lowered rigs as well.

YES, the Edelbrock ISA's for lowered Explorers do indeed make a huge difference. When used in combo with a new rear sway bar and poly bushings on f and r bars, wow, the truck really sticks to the road and body lean is vastly reduced.

i need to break down and get new shocks too. Ive been riding on stock shocks and lowered for like 3 months, and they are really starting to get worn. Ive actually heard only bad about Monroe's for lowered cars. At EU they always used to say that doesch tech nitro slammers were really good. I guess a guy with a first gen X tried monroes, edelbrocks, and d.t. and said the d.t.'s were the best, monroes the worst. I think i might get d.t.s a whirl whenever i get the money and time for new shocks

New shocks are SOOOOOO worth it. I put Koni Reds on about 1 month ago and I have so much more high speed/turning stability. Feels like a different car. Burnouts last a little longer, too
