Just wondering how much oil everyone's trucks leak.

I'm leaking about a 1/3 a quart week from my oil pan gasket and my oil filter mount. I get 2-3 spots the size of a nickel everytime I park her ('99 Ranger 4.0 OHV) The Explorer ('00 5.0) leaks 1/2 a quart between oil changes.

I just HATE having to add oil. I want to change my oil and not worry until the next change!!!

The '92 - none.
The '91 - it was leaking a quart every thousand miles...lol...now its slowed down?

My 2.9 used to burn/leak a quart every 3-4 weeks. I changed the intake manifold and valve cover gaskets on the 4.0 before I swapped it in, 5000 miles on my first and current oil change I haven't lost a drop :D No idea on my new sport yet.

2002 V6 4.0L Eddie Bauer with 62,000 miles. Never had any leaks on the ground and uses no oil over the 5,000 oil change interval.

Rumple

My 97 Sport seeps a little bit from the rear main seal, just enough so that it leaves an oil film on the inspection plate and part of the bell housing. It doesn't appear to drip, and I think I have only had to add oil between changes one time since I've owned it. I only drive it about 1k per year, so I only change the oil once a year now.

Suprisingly i dont leak any. If i didnt bypass my tranny cooler id have none of it left within a few seconds, and my coolant is long gone.

I have 2 91s and each uses about 1litre for 2000 kms ,both are at about 300,000 kms

Mine's not been a leaker till very recently when the replacement front seal or the factory pan gasket has started leaking. Otherwise it's been pretty oil stingy over it's 240,000 miles. I think it burns a cup between oil changes.

Now antifreeze on the other hand........

99 OHV w/123K miles. No leaks.

Burns less than 1/2 quart between oil changes (4-5K miles).

I use Motorcraft Premium Synthetic Blend Oil.

this depends for me,, on really cold weeks it will burn a bit if i just hop in and drive away with the motor cold, but if i let it warm up it uses close to none,,,

other than that , in the summer , or above 45 f , it uses about i liter between changes,, 5-7000 k, , (mobil 1 oil, ),,

as for the leaks,, just a bit of oozing from,, front seal, and pan gasket, valve covers got new last year,,

my 96 ex sport used to leak every time i got home from school it would leave a drop about the size of a pennie but then i used a bottle of stop leak and it all went away doesnt leak anymore

My baby used to drip about a quart per 2000 miles from the main seal. a little more than a year ago I added BARR's Main Seal Stop Leak (from AutoZone) and the seepage decreased to only a tiny bit of wetness on the rear of the oilpan but not a measureable about between oil changes.

My '97 leaks about 4.5qts ever 3000 miles, also goes through an oil filter a drain plug sealing ring ;)

Other than that, no leaks in 140000 miles! (Knock on wood)

2003 4.0 4x4 not a drop burnt or leaking... @147,000 miles. I have always used Amsoil... per Al's suggestion.

Can't get better than Amsoil...

Bottom of my oil pan used to to leak through...about a quart a month I want to say. I drained it, wiped it down, scraped it, sanded it and applied and nice coating of JB Weld and have had nary a leak since.

No leaking on my 99 sport but shes only got 91,x... Just changed the oil today with some royal purple:D

98 5.0 Burns no?, almost and leaks nothing. Change oil once a year and the level on the dipstick seems to stay the same year to year.
