How old is your battery ?

Battery

The battery is my 99 sport is the original factory one and still works just fine. The car is garaged up here in NH but never on a trikle charger. But I'm thinking I might be pushing my luck. :us: :exp:

Hey guy, i'm a noob not only to this forum but also to having a explorer. I want to do a dual battery set up but like the info on how to do it onhttp://www.explorerforum.com/forums/...d.php?t=159284 but if posible can anyone give me a wire diagram and maybe the type of solenoid i need to buy. Thanks for your help :P

Sweet thanks a lot ...next mod comming up :P

I replaced the original motorcraft battery of my 99 X when i bought it last month. It was getting weak so the dealer replaced it with a duralast. I'm planning on replacing the duralast with a motorcraft or an optima.

Hey guys, somepeople say that running a dual battery set will affect my alternator. They say that the alternator will have a hard time charging up the two batteries and will crap out. They say i'll need to run two alternator of the two batteries. Is it true. Did anybody have problems do too the dual batteries set up.

i believe the batter in my mounty is the original. Its gettin weaker lately, longer starts in the morning but i think its the original.

i was mistaken. The original was replaced in may of 2001.

I had the original in my 2000 sport till about a month ago. It pry would have lasted longer, but my "system" kind of killed it because I used it tailgating a few times and forgot to check it once and drained the battery, it never quite recovered fully, and I didn't trust it for the winter. I replaced it with a Red top. Works great now. I'm working on getting a deep cycyle yellow and running a dual battery system running the amps off the yellow so it doesn't happen again.

Mine in my 97 is original and still cooking along...

BTW..I am not sure if gels are the way to go...I work for a wireless telecom, and we have a room filled with commercial gel cells (each cell is rated for 1800AH) Overall facilities that use the good ol Lead acid have far less problems that the ones that use GEL types. (These batteries supply power for the entire facilty in the event of a power failure and are in a tempature controlled room and are always maintained by a sophisiticated charging system)

I still have my origional 99 battery. I also have a factory one from a 2000 mountaineer that still works just fine. I need to get a trickle changer for it though to keep it it tip top shape. I always like having a spare battery around just in case.

When I had my '95, the battery lasted for 7 years. I'm hoping to get the same amount out of the battery in my Sport. If not then oh well. It's still doing great so far.

what is the best battery to buy

re

I have a 2000, on the original battery. This week it's starting to sound a little weak, i suppose due to the cold. was 15 degrees this morning. I think i was lucky to get outta the driveway this morning. Will probably get a new one this weekend

I had a '94 Mazda B3000 with 140000 miles on the factory battery in until about august of 2005. It wasn't even dead just starting to get a little weak, decided to replace it before it left me stranded. Plus I have a 2000 sport that had the original battery in it until March of 2007. I replaced it with a Duralast gold. Guess I've had pretty good luck with Ford factory batteries.

I had a Canadian battery from Canadian Tire auto-parts store and the battery was 9 yo I sold it 20$ to a guy and past 10 years he still have it in his car.

Look for Motomaster Eliminator battery

My 01 Limited is still rockin the original Motorcraft. No issues what so ever.
