On my 00 EB I have the factory aluminum rims, and within a couple days of washing them down brake dust just accumulates and it makes the front wheels look yellow in comparison to the nice shiny rears. I realize most of the braking is at the front which throws more dust on the front rims, but does anyone have a trick to keep the dust from building up there, it just looks terrible.

just clean them often.... switch pads, some pads produce more dust than others, some pads are specifically formulated to produce less noise and less dust..... they also sell little metal discs that go behind the wheel and the dust gets trapped on that, however, they sometimes hinder cooling to the front brake components

I got some Guardian brake pads from rockauto.com for like 12 or 13 bucks and have had little to no brak dust from them. I'm pretty impressed...

I would just say clean them more often.

It's an off-road vehicle... why clean it at all?

Dont use the dust shields like shown in that link. They inhibit brake cooling.

Basically all you can do is keep them clean, and keep them protected with a polymer like Klasse or Zaino so the dust can't bond with them. Also try moving to a better brake pad.

I'm moving this to Detailing.

I just put Bendex pads on my Ex and they are producing A LOT of dust.

Not happy

Can someone start a poll to see which pad produces the least dust. I would like to get some input and see which pads really are the best at controlling the amount of brake dust that ends up on the rims. I hear that price does not necessarily indicate performance of pads. ie.... higher price does not = less dust
