I want to mount my amp in that hole where you put junk. Is there a special way to go about this. How would I go about mounting it?

do u mean the storage compartment in the back trunk?

if so i have done that with my amo and if you are talkin about that area i can explaine to you how to do it and then tomarrow moarning i can get some pics for ya.

yeah, u mean left or right area?

super: where in mich u located?

yea I am takling about the storage compartment in the back right because the left has my rear windsheild washer fluid in it. I only have a small mtx amp. But pics would help a lot. Also the materials that you used would help. Did you put a fan on the amp cuz in that little space I would think that it would get hot. If you used a fan what kind.

Thanks

udmsvt i live in sterling hts. how about ur self.

i can get pics for u in about an hour. i didnt hook up a fan and my amp doing find. doesnt get hot at all.

take the panel or cargo cover off and see what needs to be done. everyones install is different.
your amp will have to be mounted to something. if there is not a bracket or metal piece to attach the amp make your own out of mdf. i mounted mine on the drivers side. there was a metal lip under the window that i drilled two screws into to secure my amp. i also did the same with my capacitor. drilled into the seatbelt metal bracket.

here are some pics of mine installed

pics of my setup

i really dont no how to post pics yet but u can click on the link abnd it will take you were u can see my setup.

what did you screw into to mount the amp? Do you just leave the amp open like that? I was looking for a more cleaner look so you can't see the amp mabye covering it and that is why I asked about the fan. Could you mount it a little more forward so it is over the wheel well? How do you take out that pannel?

well is ur mtx amp a 2 channel if so there was a lil room for a small amp by the wheel well. to take the panel off. there are screws underneth the carpet. take those out and all the clips on the panel. then u need a special screw driveer tool to take out the seat belt bolt. to mount the amp just use some sheet metal screws.

you might want to look into getting a ford repair cd off of ebay. it explains how to fix and disassemble most things on your truck. its well worth the 10-15 bucks.

my cd covers 2001 explorers so i dont think i can help you out much

super: you dont happen to know the dimensions of that amd, do you? i was thinking of puttiong mine in there, but i want to keep the posket. my amp is pretty tiny so it might work....

and BTW, i am in garden city (near westland). as a matter of fact, i was just in your area today, i think it was 15/mound. dont remember though, i wasnt driving so i didnt pay attn. i have a few quasi-cousins out there.

udmsvt- hey i live on 16 and utica kinda close to where u were. the demesions of my amp is 12x10x1.5

hmm...mine is about 8"x10"x2"...wonder if it will fit and give me spac for the cargo net....probably not.

Ok I just got done installing my amp behind the cargo pocket. I used old shelving brackets and It barley fits behind the pocket. Is it nessary to put a fan on the amp? If so how would I mount a fan on the pocket thing?

udmsvt all u can do is try i ant to sure if it will fit or not good. but by remembering i believe u might be able to put the arm were u want it.

bnichols04 there should be enough circulation so that you dont have to install a fan. but if you feel the amp and it does get hot u can always instal one.

do you know how to hook up one?

ya i have done 6 installes total for friends. not to hard tho.

no no I meant do you know how to hook up a cooling fan so that it turns on with the amp. Also how did you get your speaker wires from the amp to the speakers? Did you drill a hold in the side pannel. Cuz I don't know what to do.

yo

i really dont no how to hook up a fan to the amp. but there is a thread going on right now about how to .
here it is

the way i hooked up the wire to the speakers to the amp was i just took out the old stock amp. took the wires from the stock amp and cut them then i found out witch wires went to witch speaker and i just hooked it up to the amp.
