Hi guys,
Newbie here. I've checked the FAQs, etc, and didn't see anything on this but maybe I missed it. (seems like I asked how to do this some time ago also).
Anyway, I was trying to search for posts regarding 'wheel bearing grease' and it keeps coming up with posts on 'wheel', 'bearing', and 'grease'. (that's about a bazillion posts...). I tried single-quoting, and double-quoting the phrase, but it seems to ignore it. help?
thanks,
jt

Try searching via Google, like
Code:
[URL="http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=%22wheel+bearing+grease%22+site%3Aexplorerforum.com"]"wheel bearing grease" site:explorerforum.com[/URL]
or
Code:
[URL="http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=%22wheel+bearing%22+grease+site%3Aexplorerforum.com"]"wheel bearing" grease site:explorerforum.com[/URL]

How to narrow a search - thanks!

Wow! Thanks IZWack! I didn't know you could do that with Google!! Plus, Google gives a little of the dialog in each post so you can pick and choose a little further. Perfect work-around!
cheers,

...This thread also has some info on searching the Forum..;)
http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=245056

...I try to narrow it down to one word if possible but 2-3 words may get a more precise answer...Using the google search I generally use it last..

..When doing a "wheel bearing" search using the toolbar search, I find it easier by scrolling down the right side of the results and reading what sub-forum the threads are in, the date of the last post, and the number of post...

..Wheel bearings is a common topic for all the RBV's and generations but I found this way to search easier and more precise when I wanted to look for answers on a first gen or a second gen..

..BTW, mousing over the thread title will also give you some insight to the thread itself..;)

Thanks Tbars4. As I stated though, I was trying to narrow the search, not widen it. Using 1 or 2 words, e.g. "wheel bearing' would give me lots of hits with nothing to do with wheel bearing grease. The google method only shows me posts with the phrase "wheel bearing grease" in it.
Your notes re: subforums and mousing over the title are good though.
cheers,
jt
