I have a 1999 5.0 Explorer. I believe the power steering pump is starting to go. I can’t find much information on replacing the pump on the 5.0. Could someone drop some info or a link please ?

Seek youtube videos. I did not watch this one but it's just an example, you can find more searching explorer steering pump then look for model years in the 2nd gen range:

Basically, you see if you can get the fluid reservoir off without breaking it. If you can then you can get a pump without one and reuse what you have.

Considering the age of the vehicle, you may also want high and low side hoses to the steering rack, and you may want to put penetrant on the rack tube nuts that the hoses attach by, so you have an easier time getting them off.

You just take the (2?) bolts off that hold the steering pump on, use a puller to get the pulley off, put the pulley on the new pump, install and put the new lines on it, put them on the rack, fill it with fluid, and turn the steering wheel left and right, lock to lock multiple times while driving slow or suspended on jack stands (engine running) to bleed the air out. Steering may be shaky until the air is out.

I'm sure I've skipped a few steps, find the youtube videos.

The basic replacement for a power steering pump are about the same. Thing to do.
1. Buy a NEW power steering pump. Its about a $25.00 difference in price at rockauto.
2. (Buy) Replace the high pressure line. the ORings with come With the pump. Use warm water too soften the new orings. If not they will break.
3. You will need Power steering fluid. Check your owner manual for type. Rockauto list the types.
4. You will also need a pulley puller. I uses a loaner tool program for the Uses of the tool. AutoZone or advance.
5. Its pretty straightforward. Relieve the tension on the belt by loosen two bolts. The pump will move easy in place.
6. Remove the belt.
7. Remove the pulley. Take Notice that the pulley is even with the shaft before removing.
8. You need too remove the fluid. Catch pan.
9. Remove the high pressure line at the pump. Remove return line. The return hose , is just power steering hose cut to length.
10. Install the new pump, pulley, fluid, and belt.
11. Car should be up in the air. Fill system with fluid.
12. Start car and turn the steering wheel stop to stop about 10 times. The air should be purged.
Any ford power steering pump replacement video will give the basic idea.

Fluid should be Dextron/Mercon transmission fluid. After draining mine I ran Mercon V for several years. After the fluid swap the pump ran a lot quieter.

A lot of times getting the pulleys off even with the proper pulley-puller can be a bear....if you can get one for not much more $ with pulley on it it's worth it...but as implied they are usually significant jump in price.

Have you looked at changing your fluid?

The fluid in mine turned to something that looked sort of like grease, and fluid change resolved chattering and general performance…

Good luck.
