I have a set of bucket seats with headrests out of a 2001 Ex Sport, that a friend of mine is going to re-upholster for me.

Does anyone know how to remove the plastic pieces around the headrest supports on both the seatback and the headrest?

I figure maybe I can cut the existing fabric a see how it comes apart, but I would think there is a way to pull it apart without destroying the current covering.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

The only two fastener "systems" I've seen on Ford seats with plastic surrounds by the headrests either A.) Screwed into an insert, or B.) Had cotter-type holders inside, requiring pulling the fabric off the seat to get to them, or pulling it to the side enough to get the clips pushed off and released, but you lose them inside the seats that way. I don't remember what style were on my Sport's, sorry I can't help more... But if they are going to be re-upholstered, let him pull the covers off and you can get in there rather than destroy the inserts trying to figure them out.

Props for using those- my 2001 and 2002 Sport seats were the most comfy seats I've had in a Ford car or truck, about on par with my SHO seats- any generation. Only the "pillowy" ones though- I saw the seats in the 2002 I got my cluster out of, and they were a different pattern seat, and not as comfy...

Thanks - I'll give that a try.

I got lucky on these seats - the junkyard didn't have them too long, and they were stored indoors. (Of course, they've been in my garage for a couple of years, but hey, everything in due time!)

They bolt right up to my Ranger seat tracks, and fit beautifully. And they are so comfortable!

Yup yup...

These are the seats I like...
