How to do transmission oil change using pan drop method.

2006 Explorer EB now at 205,000. miles. 4.0L

The short version is, jack up the car so it is level but you can get under it. Remove large drain plug to drain fluid. Remove pan, remove filter, install new Ford filter, clean and inspect gasket mating surfaces. The gasket is reusable, reinstall pan. Install the large drain plug but remove the center plug, and install the adaptor that you have to buy to hook a hose to it so you can pump fluid into the trans. You will also need a cheap hand pump that you can get at Harbor Freight or Walmart. Pump about 6 quarts of Motorcraft Mercon V into the trans but leave the hose attached. Start the car, slowly run through each gear. After about 10 mins remove the hose and let any extra fluid run out, if none runs out, add more. There should be just a few drips coming out, install the center bolt in plug. There are videos and photos around if you search.

To change the filter you will need to drain the fluid per the video, drop the pan, remove filter, replace, bolt up pan and follow refill instructions in the video. There are a lot of YouTube videos showing how to do a pan drop and filter replacement on the 5R55S and 5R55W transmissions.
