I got a freebie from work, they're dual bulb lights from ABL, for heavy machinery, And I'd like to know if it's possible to wire them with a 3 way switch, that way I'd be able to turn on 2 or 4 of the bulbs. Also, I've searched on here, but I'd like more details as to how to wire the whole thing in order to remain on the safe side and get optimum lighting from it all.

Thanks

You can, however it will require a few relays and some wiring, which will be quite complicated to explain on-line.

I would google search for on line foglight wiring diagrams.

Well, what does the wiring look like ? First off, are the lights 12 volt ? If so, how many wires are coming out of the housing, 2 ? 4 ?

The way the bulbs are connected now is, for each light housing: both grounds spliced, one ground wire comes out of housing, and both positives, conected to a y harness( 3 female plugs), one positive comming out of housing. All out that can be changed of course, there's lots of room in the housing. Right the they are 24V, 65 watt H3 bulbs, but I'll change those out for some 12V 55W, or do you have other recommendations? I'd like to use the 24V ones, that things would get real complicated real fast. so...

BTW, there used to be a setup on my truck where the fogs were grounded to the frame, and power came from the positive wire, attached to a 15 amp fuse in the interior fusebox, I didn't like it too much so I removed the setup. Was it a reliable way to do it?

For my setup, there's going to be 4 55w or a bit more powerfull, not sure yet.
thanx

You can get bulbs-at walmart-which are 100 watt.

Remember ohms law W=IxV

I would use a 20a or greater relay for each set (pair)of lights.
The switch should turn on the relay, which then switches the high current power to bulbs.

1st position hooked to one relay--second position hooked to both---

you can easily wire them, all u need is a two way swich on-off-on and a couple diodes.
