Humming Sound From Engine Compartment

Ok, here's the deal... I just bought my '97 Sport a couple months ago and I noticed a few times this happened. When driving the truck for while, I noticed a humming sound coming from the engine compartment. I pulled over to check it out. I couldn't pin point it at first, but then it sounded like it was coming from the air intake. I opened up the part where the air filter goes and I could hear the sound coming out from the tube louder now. I don't know what was causing the noise though, but when I went in the truck and turned off the AC the sound died out. I turned the AC back on and no noise. What could be happening here? Anyone have any idea??

Definately sounds like the IAC. Check out the threads on cleaning it. Don't forget to pop off the black plastic cap so you can clean the filter under it, it's probably causing the problem.

Its humming because it doesn't know the words.

Its probably the IAC.

Glad to see there's a good sense of humor within this group! Thanks for the info guys. a while ago I turned my truck on and the humming started up again. I gave it a good rev and it went away. I'll make sure to check the IAC first thing in the morning. The I'l post a new question for you guys.
