Hydrolock multiple questions

Okay. As an intro, I have a slightly modified 96 explorer (tt, shackles, 31s, body lift, bumper, cai)
I have a few questions for the rbv experts.
I believe I have hydrolocked the motor. I went through a hole I've done before,but I think my custom bumper may protect the intake less than the stock one. The throttle body had water puddles in it. Pulling it on pavement at about 30 mph in 5th gear resulted in the clutch slipping. The plugs were out. I can not turn the crank shaft with a breaker bar.
So question one: does anyone have any other tests or tricks for a hydrocked motor that I haven't seen via search?
Question two: can I use a 91 ranger block?
Question three: I'm planning a sas, would it be easier with the engine out?

Chances are you did hydro lock it, the reason it wont spin over is you bent a connecting rod in the engine. When you hit the hole and it shut off, did you attempt to start it or turn it over without removing the plugs? That would do it, or if it sucked up enough water fast enough it would bend a rod immediately. Lesson is water does not compress. The Ranger block will be fine, just use all of your electronics. As far as the SAS, with the engine out, it may gain you some access that would be tight with it in there.

Of course I tried to start it again lol just in case it wasn't messed up enough I wanted to finish it off. Lol but it never turned over after her bath. Well over 300k miles it's time for a rebuild anyway.

Oh man! I have a 96 sport on 33s, well over 300k and wheeled pretty hard in a past life (by me) still on the original engine and 3rd trans (slushbox) I have only saved one truck from a hydro lock. My buddy has a 97 GMC with a 4.3, did the same thing you did, we towed it home dropped the oil (like 8 quarts!) and pulled the plugs and she spun over and spit water out, new plugs, oil and filter and fired up and is still running today.

Yeah the hell I put her through I'm surprised the motors lasted this long. I think I'm going to do a mild perfomance rebuild and go for another 300k. First thing on the to do list after rebuild, snorkel... Lol
