Hypertech and K&N Switch 93"-91" X

Can I use a Hypertech chip and a K&N air filter
in a 91" 3door 115 kw X.
The chip & filter was purchased for a 93" XLT
and the owner never installed it.

The KN should work. The chip most likely will not, your computer codes have to match.

dont worry i have a chip made for a 91 on my 92 x and it runs fine and i did feal some more hp about 10.

Im gunna go with Alec on this one. I would make sure the computers match. Someone correct me... but one diffrence in the engines I can think of off the top of my head is EGR. I think that started in 93. Plus I think there is even some hp diffrences in the engines....

go to the hypertech website and look up ford modules and it will say under the applications for 91-94 ... ( and the type of transmission and 4x4 or not)

Ford started putting EGR in Explorers about halfway thru the 93 model year. Some 93's had EGR and some did not. Anyway, this would probably affect the programming of the chip. But I don't know that for sure.

If they have the same part# for the chip from 91-94 then the EGR must not affect the programming on the chip.
