i finally get around to installing my system and leenjen is nowhere to be found  im just kidding, im sure hes off doing something fun or important. well here is my question... right now im looking for an amp to power my new doorspeakers. they are the 2002 Audiobahn AS65Q chrome 6.5" 4 ohm speakers. rated at 120w rms 240peak. what kind of amp should i look for to power these speakers? (i have them in the front and rear doors but i dont know if i have to power both)

you would probably want a 4 channel amp to power all 4 speakers.

But about what kind.. you know how people are on here.. your gonna get 100 different answers. I have always gone with PPI and now JL since they've came out. Rockford is good. don't know much about Audiobahn but a bunch of people on this board have it. I would just about say any decent 4 ch amp that you can get a good deal on

well do i have to find an amp that is around 100-120w rms @ 4ohm? i found a rockford punch 500w 4ch amp, but thats 125w @ 2 ohms... these are 4 ohm speakers so do i need to find a huge amp to power 4 ohms or something? im still learning my audio stuff here

that punch amp is 125 @ 2 ohms... but also something like 75 @ 4 ohms...here it is.....

62 W X 2 @ 4 Ohms RMS @ 1% THD

125 W X 2 @ 2 Ohms RMS @ 1% THD

250 W X 1 @ 4 Ohms Bridged RMS

your just learning about audio and your going with the 4 12's...... SWEEEET

I'd say an Audiobahn A4601, rated at 75 watts x 4 at 4 ohms, but that is at 12.5 volts. It will probably put out a lot more with the engine on. Of course, I am an Audiobahn fan, and like Explorer4u2c said, everyone will suggest different brands.

As for leenjen, yeah, he hasn't posted in a month. Something must be up. Usually he is posted multiple times every day, and I can't imagine what he could be up to that would keep him off of this board for a month. Maybe his computer blew up? :p

ya thats the one i was looking at, i looked at it and saw the 125 x4 @ 2 ohms and i was like sweet, but then i noticed that the speakers i got ar 4 ohm so i was like sh*t. would 62watts be enough to make good sound out of these 120w speakers?

Oh yeah, definitely. Especially since they are quality speakers. My pioneer 3 ways have an RMS rating in that range and I am powering them from the headunit and they sound fine.

how about something like this: Dead Link Removed
thats 100w x 4 @ 4ohm . the only thing im worried about is that its refurbished so i dont want any problems with it

wait nevermind i got mixed up on which link and stuff... that one is brand new, but why is it so cheap? is that a crappy amp?

No, kickers are good amps. It's so cheap because it's on eBay! :D I am not too familiar with their models, but that could be one from last year, that would make it much cheaper.

so should i pick up this amp? or would it be better to get this rockford one: Dead Link Removed
this is the refurbished one, its less wattage (87.5), and it costs 20 bucks more

I'd say kicker then... It looks like most online places sell it for about $400, so that is why it is only $283 on eBay.

well i hear all the time that with car audio, you get waht you pay for. 283 just seems way to cheap for an 800watt amp. the retail price on this amp is 459.90. that seems really cheap for the retail of an 800w amp so im just wondering if this is infact a good quality amp.

That is usually the case... But I picked up a $900 amp for $320 and a $500 amp for $234, both on eBay, brand new in sealed boxes.

So basically, $283 for a $459 amp is not too far fetched... Especially when I paid less for a more expensive amp.

Wow... I always thought Kicker was decent. That changed my mind.

well what do you guys think of the rockford fosgate 800.4 amp? it will be giving my speakers 100w each, and i found it for about 400 shipped to my door... what do you guys think? is this what im lookin for?

kicker

I just finshed (today) installing a Kicker KX600.4 to my door speakers. I also put in Kicker Component door speakers (front= Rs6C... rear=K65.2). With this amp, They sound Excellent! Alot more than I expected. It is putting out 75 x 4 @ 4ohm! I got the amp off ebay for 300.00.

I would go with the fosgate 800.4 for $400 thats good price. Add on another 200 or 300 watts to that cause rf always under rates there stuff.
