Sorry no pics but I was in an accident this last week, in my 05 explorer. I lost control, went through a guardrail and nosedived over ten feet from a bridge. The airbags never deployed and i was fine other than bruises.

As for the car, the direct impact was on the driver side of the bumper and fender. I can probably replace both of those on my own, however I drove it home 50 miles, and the entire way it was extremely rough and pulled left when I brakes. Whats the verdict for the suspension?

DUDE

you jumped off a ten foot drop AND THEN drove it home???? That is the best thing I've heard about these vehicles in a LONG time.

Oh - glad you're ok, but tell us more. No airbag deployment? You didn't bend the steering wheel, or break any glass???? Radiator/ac/trans coolers all ok still???

It sounds worse than it was as the guard wail was thin, and the front wheels caught most of the fall. i do have insurance, but have not decided if I should notify them. Steering wheel seems ok and no glass damage.

your gonna have to take some pics so maybe we can determine better what your damage might be

do u got pics of it

I agree, you may have some frame damage along with suspension and steering component damage. We'll be able to tell more when you get some photos taken. Good luck.

Yeah, need a full go-over. Even parts that look fine could be creating problems... Sorry, but 10 feet? And drove it home? Thank you, Ford! :D

Personally, i would not recommend going through insurance with it. i always avoid insurance if it's my fault (offroad damage, etc)

if you have it repaired through insurance, the repair shop will shaft the insurance company (they always do) and the insurance company is in the business to *make* money off of you, so they will raise you're rates accordingly (even if they say otherwise) if you do the math you'll end up paying way more than the repairs cost, just spread out over time

You're suspension problems are probably just bent tie rids, or something knocked out of alignment, probably an easy fix.

The fenders sounds like you can swap yourself.. then just take it to a shop to get the paint matched.

if the frame is bent, most (good) body shops have machines to correct the frame, i've had this done before, on two separate vehicles (and did the other repairs myself) both are A-ok now. it cost me $350 to have it done (frame straightening)
