I Don't Know What to do Now.

dude just do some reasearch of the BBB and places like that get some of the terms they use into your head and info to back it up..then walk in and tell them u want all of ur money back right now or..then u start in on the banter u just learned and hopefully they will think twice about being sued or shut down and give u ur money back

if not leave come back 2 hrs later walk into the bay and take ur ex hoping they left some pricey tools in ur rig =) then do the sueing :(

also take picture of ur truck in its current condition any new scratchs and all then have them developed with the date on them..might help u down the road unless u want to drive around like that till its all settled

good luck dude i hope they just stop being *****s and finish ur truck

Roger Alec, calling the BBB now. When it was other people it was so easy for me to give great answers, but now that I am in the hotseat, some things just aren't as clear as others. LOL.

The BBB is just an agency that you can cry to. They can't actually do anything. Atleast this is what I've been told about them.

I forgot about that deposit when I told you to get your truck back. Maybe wait till they have done $1500 worth (or more) and then take it back from 'em.

Yeppers, just got off the phone with the BBB. They said there is really nothing they can do to help me except call them and ask them to explain. They are no bad reports on them on record. I will call Envirotech again later today while I am calmed down and hope to talk to the owner again. Will see if he will meet me in person or just explain to me exactly what is going on, but he also now has lied to me in the past and ask if they are going to do something extra for me for my inconviences. I beleive I am caught up in the "Catch-22" here. If I go and take my X now, I stand to loose $1,500. If I don't, then there really is no telling how much longer they will keep it. They told me yesterday it would be 2 more weeks.
Here is a list of the new equipment they have to install.

Alpine HU 7998
Alpine EQ ERA-G320
Alpine DVD Player 5202
Alpine 6 Disk CD Changer
Alpine Flip Down Overhead Monitor
2 Alpine 540 4 Ch Amps Need an amp rack for all amps.
2 Alpine 500 Mono Amps
2 Pairs of Boston Z6 Speakers - Doors are to be fiberglassed for these to be a custom fit.
2 Sets of Boston 12.5 ProSeries Subs - Needs correct boxes.
ZR3 Radar Detector - HotWired
Passport 8500 Radar Detector - HotWired

And I want to add another Alpine 540 and 500 Amps with another pair of Boston Z6 speakers and a Boston 10.5 Sub. Guess I will definately find someone else to add those for me. Such a shame.

did the check already go through? if it was CC, you might still be able to get the CC to not pay them.

Tell them everday from now on, you're deducting your rental car payments from the amount that you're going to pay them in the end. if they complain, show them how much having a rental car has cost you.

if all else fails take the police with u to pick up ur truck and ask for the deposit back....might work

Does you estimate/receipt have a due date/production time?

Hell, I can do most of that for you except for the glassing. Everything except the glassing shouldn't take more than 2-3 days.

did the check already go through?
Yes, they cashed it the first day. LOL.
Does you estimate/receipt have a due date/production time?
I wish. Didn't think about it at first. I actually told them that if they needd a week, take 2, need 3, take 4. I wanted the job done with perfection, not a rush.

Where were you 2 months ago? LOL, I even posted looking for custom installers in the area. Talked to someone on audio.com and thought he was going to do it for me, his name was houston281, but I guess he thought that I was kidding around and quit replying to my emails, so I went ahead and took it to Envirotech. I will call them tonight before they close, then go back over there next Monday. If nothing has been done, or any major work done from now till then, I will go ahead and call the police and pull the vehicle. I have 3 complete sets of keys, so 1 less won't hurt me. The problem is if I am correct on this and correct me if I am wrong, that you are actually signing a mechanics lean on your vehicle when you do a repair order. Meaning if you don't pay what they want and what you agree to, they have the ability to repo your vehicle and sell it to satisfy the lean.

HotDogs

well what did u sign when u took it there?

do u have a garage?? also i think if u are suing them over it they cant repo the property because it is being handeled in court

dude i really feel bad for u...i hate shops like that becasue they give other shops bad names

That's only true( I think) if the work has been completed. Otherwise they would have no basis for that.

Yea I signed, LOL. I was a proud daddy when I went in there and wanted to get all of that installed at once. I couldn't and still can't wait to get it back. I am going to do like I said in my last post. I will call them tonight and make deals, and then pop in Fri, Sat, or Mon on them and see what has transpired in that period of time. If I am not satisfied with what I see at that exact time, I will simply call the Police or Sheriff's Dept and take control of the vehicle back. Then call Alec, LOL. I will then find "someone" hopefully to either finsish the job or start over and get it done right. Then file a small claims suit against them and of course file on them at the BBB. Can't hurt a thing and cost me around $60 filing fee. The worst that could happen is that I loose the money right?

i think you should call them every 2 hours and ask them how it's doing

Your situation, unfortunate as it is, is i good reason for DIY.

Good luck in the resolution......

Not everybody has the resources required to do a good DIY job. From the sound of it, he has nothing but high quality equipment and having that installed in a less than stellar fashion would almost be a crime. He did the right thing by having a shop do it, but unfortunately he has luck like i do, and picked one that appears to be run by idiots. Im soo sorry to hear of this happening. You seem like a real decent guy.

OK, FYI gang. I couldn't stand it anymore and drove over there tonight. Let me say this - Even though the owner and managers were either gone or they stayed hid and out of sight, but did not come out to greet me. They did more work on the install since yesterday than they have since the X was taken to them 2 months ago. LOL. I guess they knew I meant business when I said I would "pull it" if they didn't get on it. They did door fiberglassing work, rack work, took all the seats out, ran wires and cables from A-B&C. I could definately tell that more than 1 person is working on it. Now if only they would have done this from the start. I would not be going through any of this non-sense. One of the salesmen went with me and said they were talking about some "extras" that they were going to throw in. He would not elaborate on it and that is OK by me. I told him that when I look at the finished product, I had better go "WOW" and not what I said yesterday. LOL, I can't print those words and normally you would never hear me speak like that. But by golly there are 3 things in life you don't mess with me about, 1) My God 2) My Family, and 3) My Money. Just in that order too.

Also a FYI, I cannot DIY hardly anything on mine or other automobiles. I am just not mechanically inclined to do things of this nature. I think that Fhantazm hit the nail on the head with his statement. I have spent OVER 10K just on stereo equipment for this job. I bought all little by little, an amp here, an amp there until I had all of this togeather to get to this point. I demand nothing less than a perfect job. Money was NOT the object of this custom install, but quality.

When it comes time to get a super charger, I think I will call on old Alec for advice. LOL.

thats great that they are on the ball now

just make sure when its all done u go over everything with a fine tooth comb and dont stand for anything less then stellar..alot of people will just say "good enough" but for this much money u had better not settle =)

oh yah GET PICS!!!!! hehe lol

Glad to hear it's sort of shaping up for you bro.

What kind of guarantee are they giving you on the work?

LOL, if I like it, I will pay for it. If I don't, I won't pay. Simple as that. It will be that WOW Factor that will do it for me. Since I am a young dude at 48, I still like to bang my head to the oldies. LOL. Nothing wrong driving down the highway in the country to Black Sabbath at 70mph.

But the owner and I did agree, in writing, that when I do take possession of the vehicle back, all of there glass work has an unlimited warranty. Under no circumstances is it to break, crack, peel, warp, or any type of visual/structural damage for as long as I own the truck. Any materials used, such as fuses, wires, clamps, etc will carry a 1 year from defects.

Now granted, I did not buy any of the stereo equipment from them, I thought this was a pretty good deal and this written warranty was the deal breaker at the beginning of the talks. They have been around for a few years, 10 that I know of. I was afraid to give the job to just anyone cause when it comes time for a repair or adjustment, you may not find them. You know what I mean?
Each time I bought an amp, or speaker, I also purchased an extended warranty on the item. So right now, I still have a min of 2 years of warranty on each and every component in the vehicle with the exception of the XM module. I think the remaining warranty on that peice is down to around 6 months or so. Those 2ohm Boston subs cost me over 500 each. I HAD to get extended warranty because this was just too much money for anything to go wrong. Plus, I got some great deals from a friend at Mobile1 at Almeda. I just wouldn't let them install any of it cause they do not really do custom work, and what do you expect when they advertise for a $1 install with purchase. So instead of the install, they took money off the top of the purchase price, plus they had to special order allot of the components for me. I was pretty specific on exactly what I wanted, except for the head unit. I wished I would have waiting on that for Alpine to go full digital.

HotDogs

Heading over there again right now with my digital camera. Will take some pics if someone can post them for me. I will become an Elite when I start getting close to completing my X. Remember, this is just the inside for now, I still have the outside to go. ;-))))
So get ready Alec, will be calling ya. LOL
