I'm confused, today i went to walmart and got a stereo adapter and then had to exchange it cuz the guy from the place that makes the adapters said mine has an amp so got another one hooked up the wires to the stereo and pluged the 2 plugs into the explorer and the stereo turns on its showing its playin through the cd but no sound! I even tried turning on the cd player's internal amp and still nothing, so wtf could be going on here? I wanna get this done before we go out tonite so help me friends  I've done idk how many stereos and never ran into this prob. before....

your 96 has a factory amp, you need to power it.
You need to hook up your 96's power wire for the amp to the remote wire from your deck.

Its blue I believe......

Try a search for this sucker, the 96 wiring diagrams are posted

tthe factory amp has to be turned on just like an aftermarket amp

Heath, you got a link for that? this is my first to a 2nd gen. explorer.

I just want this to sound good at least better than the stock cassette thing

this Haynes manual isn't to helpful to me right now.

Thanks for the input guys, but i gott'er done, just had to run the wires a little diff. had to run the hot wire with the amp wire, the remote wire from the back of my headunit must not have been puttin out enough or something but just lettin ya'll know i aint stuck now, just goin back out to mount it in the dash now. :chug:
