I get a shock everytime I get out of Truck?

Anyone know what is causing this? Its starting to really piss me off. I'm starting to feel like the guy going to work on office space. As soon as I touch the door getting out I get a big shock.

Same happens to me, the cloth interior is just going to be that way this time of year man.... winter to early spring will probably be the worst.

Here's a tip to prevent getting shocked. Before you step out of the car, touch the door frame while stepping out. That will ground yourself and you won't get shocked.

Just a little info: I saw on the news that the static electricity produced when getting out of your car can cause a fire while fueling at a the pump. They say you should touch something metal, like the top of the gas pump before fueling. They showed video of people catching on fire. Kinda scary.

The same is supposedly true when using a cellphone while filling up. Haven't seen it first hand, but read it somewhere.

I dunno about other states but in jersey its illegal to be talking on a cell phone while youre fueling up.

electrical shock can cause a fire at the pump. if it is on fire while it is being filled LEAVE IT IN! it will go out eventually but it ya take it out it will get larger! learned that from discovery channel.

also women are more likly to do this.

Static Electricity

Some tires are worse than others for building up static electricity. My GF's truck with Michelins is bad for generating static.

Also, some fabrics are worse than others, so you could try seat covers to cut down on static generation.

very true! women normolly get back into the car when refilling. when they do this they charge themselves and there ya go there's a shock. also there long hair charges them selves.

Hey I have my Anti Static shoes from work!!! I knew they would come in handy for something!!! Or maybe a drag link chain bolted to the frame to ground out the EX.
Seriously - SOME of the rumors about static causing fires at gas pumps is true. There was no study on which sex caused more fires though. (see UrbanLegends.com) As to Cell phones-I don't see them causing a spark in the housing to ignite a fire.

Right on with that... I noticed that all the time on my sport (cloth seats) but not the un-limited (plush leather )

Don't you always touch something metal when you fuel up? ie Gas filler door

-So do you mean if your feet touch the ground before you touch the metal of the truck then you get shocked?

I`m trying to figure out when the shock exactly occurs and I can`t recall if it is before or after my feet touch ground.
