You don't mess around! Lookin good, man. I want to do this!

Do you have the full length console? If so what are you doing with the shift lever?

umm i dunno what ima do about the shifter, im gunna have to figure that out once i get a linkage and all that good stuff. but im not 100% done, i still need to put the new front shaft in cause im waitin on the driveshaft bolts from ford and to put my skid plate back on.

I was thinking about just making a short shifter that you can have under the ashtray deal. And just take off the plastic when you need to shift it (which wouldn't be too often for me. That way it still looks stock. But I have no idea if this is even a possiblity. Is it?

I really like the way Jefe did his when he put in his Atlas, it is to the left of the console, tucked up out of the way. I think it looks really good, then just get a 2wd, bezel that goes around the radio, so you won't have the 4wd switch anymore.

An idea, maybe you could use the shifter on a Ranger FX4?????

But you would still have the same problem with it coming up righ where the console is.

yeah, once i get the linkage and the lever and all that i will do some fancy torch work to bend the shifter just right to come out on the side of the console, and hopefully that will work.

Make sure to post pics!! I'm really liking the idea of getting a T/C with a real 4HI and one that I control with MY hand.

and let the pics begin! i think i struck gold today, i was at a yard and found a linkage off a '92 Ranger, almost positive its a 1354 linkage.

Interesting idea I'm not sure if all full length consoles come with rear air, but if they do, the air duct is right underneath the cup holders. so you'd have to sacrifice your rear air. :(

As long as you're willing to fab, it shouldn't be hard to get it to come up next to the console.

Doesn't look quite so neat with the BL removed, and I don't know why i used to sit that close to the pedals/dash.

alright, ive thought up an idear. even though i talked it over with my dad, and we arent sure that it will work. im thinkin that i can cut the the lever up where i had planned to bend it, then weld in a peice of steel and reweld the top of the lever onto this steel. but im not sure if it will work right once i do this because of forces put onto the lever by me. either thing i do, i need to go to a shop in the morning and either A. get it bent about 3-4" towards the driver (and trim the transmission hump :( , or B. have it welded 3-4" over.

alright guys, heres the deal, this mod isnt for anyone that wants to keep their console intact so to speak. i have the shifter bent, i spaced out the linkage about 3/4", and also trimmed the console where the shifter comes out, and it still freakin hits. not much but it still does, i got plenty of pictures, and i will post them later on tonight. i still need to put the shift boot on, and i might get that done later also. it all depends, because so far ive spent a total of 15 hours on this damn thing! 3 hours monday night taking out the interior, 9 hours on the road to South Carolina for the linkage bolt, and 3 hours reinstalling the interior, modding the console, and cutting a hole in the carpet.

9hrs for a bolt!!!!!! gesh man hope all goes well for u

yeah, it was a long ways but i had to finish it. here are the pics:

and yeah, im done. anything else anyone would like pictures of, i will do my best to get them. for being a 2nd gen with a full length console and a warner 1354 manual shift with the stock 1354 shifter, i do have to say it looks damn good, and fairly stock.

They all work for me and it looks bad ass! :D Congrats on the sweet mod!
