I'm sure this has been asked before, but can someone help? I've got a '91 XLT that I want to take the air silencer off of. Well, once I got it almost out, I saw the tube running to the manifold. Do I plug it? Leave it open? Can someone please help? Please don't tell me to just leave the silencer on, I really want it off. Thanks for the time.

Come on ya'll... Can't SOMEONE help me here? Please? All I want to know if I have to plug the opening that runs from the manifold to the intake pipe under the battery and toward the grill. Do ya'll know where I'm talking about? I sure hope so... Help me, please?

i have a 94 and dont believe that we have an air silencer

Okay, so I worded it wrong. The intake pipe running from beside the headlight at the grille to the bottom right corner of the air-box. There is a vacuum hose that operates the warm-air/cool-air mixture for warm ups. The large hose on the other side that runs to the manifold. That's what I'm talking about. Can anyone please help me? Can it be taken off without plugging, or should it be?

No, you will not need to plug it. I've been running mine open since a month old.

You might want to reconsider removing the snorkel, though. It should give you some cold air. Not 100% sure what it looks like anymore but I do remember that it runs up to the front of the car. Does it have a unobstructed path to fresh air?

Thanks

the snorkle is the heat riser, it helps the car heat up faster by pulling air past the block or through it, well somehow it gets warmer air.

Thanks ya'll for the help. I thought I was gonna spaz out untill I found out for sure. I got one more question. Would it hurt to plug it?

Am I correct in thinking there are two pieces to this puzzle? A heat riser and a snorkel?

super- You would'nt do any harm by plugging it. If you're talking about at the manifold, what would you use considering the heat?

Thanks

To be quite honest, I have no idea what I would use, I just wanted to know if I could plug it just in case. Kind of a "what if..." situation. Thanks for the help. Oh, and I know for a fact now that the heat riser and the "snorkle" is the same thing. I've had the heat riser's vacuum line off for a while now, i just was curious about the tube running to the engine. Well, now I know, and I thank you all.
