Finally found a nice class 3 hitch. Got it off a second gen, so I have to drill a couple holes for it to mount properly before I can actually use it. ItsIt's a 5000lb round tube hidden hitch. Glad I kept looking because I found one of the square tube ones that I almost pulled. I like the round ones better.

Nice find! Most all the hitches are already pulled by the time they get to the yard.

Tons of em here, unfortunately the truck is usually sitting on it. Unless I need leaf springs or an axle. Then it's sitting on the axle. I used a hidden hitch off a 2002 on my 94. Removed the rear bumper, decided I wanted to mount it upside down for a better departure angle, had to drill 1 hole each side and 3 holes each in some spacer plates since the mounts were barely to wide to fit snug. It's still a touch low and can definitely go in more. Once I get moved into a new place I'll take care of that and make it look a little better, but for now it cost me $25 and a night in the garage to have a rear tow point. (No I dont use a ball, got a slide tube with a hook on it).

Glad you do lol. I spent last 2 weekends looking for various parts next one is over an hour away sure hope they have something I'm looking for lol

If your Pick n Pull type yard has those A Frame engine hoists you can use that to lift the explorer and reposition the rim stands (you know, those jack stands they made from a pair of rims)... I was running into this issue and they would send out the forklift to lift it so I could move the stands.. Then one day the forklift driver showed me the trick with the engine hoist...

I actually did that one time. Found a 2nd gen with some warriors on it, so I used the engine hoist to take the weight off, unfortunately this explorer was sitting on a slight side hill so when I got enough weight off it tried to take off into the vehicle next to it. I gave up on the warriors after slipping off the shackle bolt sending the back of my thumb straight into a cut quarter panel that hadn't been rolled. Obviously I was not meant to have that set of shackles.

2 of our u pull and pay yards have their inventory online. Might be worth a quick check to see if yours does.
Yes so do mine. Problem I run in to is I was looking for interior stuff door panels and such I can find the cars but what I was looking for had been smashed or broke etc still need a driver's door panel rather not pay hundreds for it lol but I have found a few places where you tell them what you want and they pull it and bring to you it's a little more but still not as expensive. As online stuff

I live quite a ways from ours now. A few weeks back I leaned into a dirt/rock wall and took off my drivers' side mirror. Got it back on with some good ole 100mph tape for now, but it bugs the crap out of me. Need to make a trip down to ours SOON!!

@96EXXLTinCO, you ever goto Andersen's in Greeley, or are the pick-a-part yards around Denver closer?

Yea I've been to Andersen's a few times. I like it, but it was quite a ways away from me before, and now it's not even worth the drive for me. I like that they don't charge to get in the yard, but it sucks they don't have their inventory online. Plus their prices are higher on most things than u pull n pay. A lot of times the night before I go to the yard, I'll check the inventory online and put what vehicle is in what rows into my phone. Between 2 of us we have 4 vehicles so I'm always all over those yards looking for stuff for all 4 and knowing whether or not they have any of the vehicles I'm looking for parts for is invaluable. Every place is going to some 1st gen Explorers, and A LOT of 2nd gens so those aren't a problem. My 2001 Eclipse and her 4runner are the tough ones to find stuff for in the yards.

Cheyenne Auto & Metal, in Cheyenne, is related to Andersen's, but their yard is a lot more cleaner, and they do inventory their stock. I live 80 miles northeast of Cheyenne, but usually hit Andersen's, and then hit Cheyenne on the way back home. Lately, I have been having better luck pulling parts in Cheyenne. For used tires, Andersen's is usually picked over, while in Cheyenne, I do run across some almost new tires. Plus, Cheyenne will dismount tires for $3(?).

I have been to a few pick-n-pull yards in Denver. Prices do seem lower. One LKQ yard I went to was super clean. Areas between rows were concrete, and guys walking around with absorb material to dump on fluids. Actually quite nice walking in cleaner conditions. Plus, there was a taco truck inside the gate

Concrete?? that would be nice!! seems like Denver u pull and pay is always muddy and I end up looking around for a decent size floor mat or cargo mat to lay on. They always have what I'm after though and almost always end up finding some aftermarket stuff too. Do you have a link to that cheyenne yard? I'd like to check out heir site.

@96EXXLTinCO, here ya go...

There is also a yard in Atwood relating to the one in Cheyenne and the one in Greeley, but it sucks. I drove there, walked the WHOLE yard pry in under ten minutes, and left. Terrible selection. Small yard. Limited parking. When I was there, all employees were sitting at a picnic table in the backroom. Never acknowledged me entering or exiting. I drove west to hit Greeley and Cheyenne, to maybe find something to salvage the wasted trip.

I think this is the LKQ yard I went to: https://www.lkqpickyourpart.com/locations/LKQ_Pick_Your_Part_-_Aurora-230/

Awesome, thnx for the links. I've heard of the LKQ, but I've never been there, can't remember why, but probably because I have so much luck at u pull and pay. If it aint broke..........
