I found a dude an hour away from me with a 8.8 with 4.10 gears no limited slip that is out of a 98 with 45,000 miles on it and he wants 300 obo this includes springs. So I figure IF I want to match up the front what is a good alternative. I now that rangers came with 4.10 in their day. Would that be a good idea, or how about a Detroit(anybody know the cost of one new?) From what I gather, ditching the LS will be a good idea if I ever want to have a true locker installed. Just want all the pros to tell me if I am on to a decent project.
Also I run 32's with 3.73 right now. Do you think 35's will respond similar or should I shoot for 33's or should I ditch the idea if 35's are my goal and go for 4.56. I am perfectly happy with the speeds and accelaration of the 3.73 with 32's so I dont know what 4.10 will match up similar with. This is another situation where i cant grasp why they make a 30, 31 32,33, 35 36 and up but for some reason the only 34 is a bogger or some other crazy tire. If I could get a MTR or a BFG in a 34 I would be singing zip-i-dee-doo-da out of my @ss. Lemme know what you think.
Thanks

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that if I do this then I will have a front diffy for sale that I bought in July which is immaculate, and my entire rear axle 3.73 LS set up for a spring over if anyone wants

35s are better turned by at least 4.56s
33s are ideal for 4.10s but can still be used for 35s but isnt really recommended unless you want good cruising mileage and poor city mileage

Danny-
Riff has 36's and 4.56's and Todd has 4.88's with 35's

Then there is me, with my stock 3.73's w/ either 33's or 35's :)

Well I got er , disc brakes, 4.10 gears and leaf spring, but it is the crappy monoleaf from the sports, Has anyone ever lifted the rear of a sport by removing those blocks wich seperate the axle from the spring? looks as if you could gain a inch or 2.
Now I am looking to get a front locker, one that is indestructable since it is a PITA to get to it, thinking of the Detroit. Suggestions?

For sale 3.73 LS rear axle, new spider & side gears & seals, could use a brake job. Make offer, soon to come front diff for sale, 3.73 immaculate(installed in July)

Hey Danny
Not too change the subject, But you seem bored. How does Eddies truck look with that lift on it. Does he have any pics??? How tuff was it to put on?

Go for the 4.56s, because...when you eventually get 35s and you know you will, you wouldn't like the 4.10s with 35s. I had 33s for about 9 months with my 4.56s and it wasn't that bad, Just had to go a little slower in the freeway. Actually you can still go faster than the speed limit, (I drive fast) and it's all ready for 35s when you decide to get them.

Colin Colin Colin, Do you not see, I BOUGHT the 4.10's set in the axle, I sure would like 4.56, hell I want 4.88 or 5.13, but this is what I will be running, Now I want advice about the locker

Hey brent-
We put it in sunday and its awesome! I found the exact same limited X as mine in a parking lot and pulled up behind it and snapped some pics and will get them out soon. Look for my thread when i update my site!! Danny said he'd hook me up with his 31's as soon as he gets his new tires so it will look even better! lots of room in the wheel well that needs to be filled!! btw danny, that was a 94 x also, am i the only one who has a 93 limited??? manufactered 08/93 how is that a 93?
