I need help please

Hey new guy here so I just purchased a 98 explorer xlt it currently has 175K on it well when I took it for a test drive on friday everything was fine now on saturday when I went to pick it up I started driving and all of a sudden my O/D off light started blinking. The previous owner told me that he replaced the trans like 3 months ago. On saturday night I drove the truck down the street to 7 eleven and the light was blinking still then as I pulled into the parking lot the light went away. Today I drove the truck and the light came back on again and it still blinking. Now the truck only has the O/D light blinking and thats it there is no check engine light the truck pulls hard and when I drive it it shifts into every gear but its a little rough it kicks a little. I have searched on here but I havent found a similar problem like mine. I disconnected the positive on the battery to let the computer reset hopefully this works cause im low on cash and wont be able to afford a new trans im just hoping that its not the trans. Could somebody help me out please

That will reset the codes, yes. But, you really should take it to an auto parts store or somewhere that is capable of reading codes, if/when the light comes back on....definitely need to know what it's finding a fault.

A thought- Did you get any receipts for the trans replacement from the previous owner? If it was only done 3 months or so ago, there's a chance the shop warrantied their work, and it could potentially be on them to make it right...

My 97 explorer xlt did that as well. It started doing it a week ago. I checked the transmission fluid and was a little low now the light stays off and shifts better lol. Check it out and let me know.

Ok so this morning I connected the battery drove for like 15 minutes once I hit 50 mph boom the light started flashing again but the truck drives and shifts fine it goes into overdrive and all I am at work rite now and I will check the trans oil. Like midcities said and xlt974.0 no I was a dumb a** and I didnt ask for the receipts but I have his phone number i might give him a call and ask him cause he did tell me where the trans was done I just forgot the name but yea I might give him a call and ask him bout the receipts

Let me know if it was low on trans fluid. Cause that was my issue and mine did the same exact thing. Hope it works for you man.

What tranny oil do you guys reccomend to use in the truck

So I took the truck to my mechanic he read the codes and I got the P0741 code which is the valve body spring is stuck or something like that he told me that he can put in a reman valve body for me for $425 what do you guys think is this a good deal?

Checked the tranny fluid its good but I already know what the problem is so is this really bad or no?
