I need help with the hand held door unlocker remote.

how do you get the hand held door unlocker to work? i bought a new battery for the remote but it still would not work. it's a 96 ford explorer sport. all the door handles are shaved but the drivers door. and i don't want to leave my door unlocked when i go places. thanks!!!

Welcome to this forum! Are you referring to a standard remote to unlock door locks or a custom set up to pop the doors open?

its the stock one that came with it. the original one.

I've moved your thread into the stock 95-01 section. Do you have another remote to see if it will work? They go bad eventually. Test the old & new batteries with a voltmeter to see if they are fully charged. Did the remote ever get dropped into water?

do you have the keypad on the door option???? IF so, does it work? If not, does your auto lock option work when you put your truck in gear.... search for how that is enabled...IF that option doesn't work, then it is likely you have a broken wire / splice.... tons of posts.... OR get out a meter and start checking things near the lock/unlock relays in the cargo panel area.

You say that you lost the other one- is this a replacement remote, or are you sure this is the paired remote that came with the truck originally? It might need to be programmed/reprogrammed.

As far as the shaved hangle thing, how do you unlock/pop the others? If they're power and lockable especially by remote, whomever put those in probably tapped into the circuit, and the factory remote lock/unlock may not function anymore.

the remote i have now is one that came off a newer explorer. the shaved handles on the passenger side are just on the outside i have to open it up from the inside. the back hatch has a solinoid in it and a rocker switch on the dash it doesn't splice into anything. all the codes i've tried won't work.

If it's not a remote programmed for the current truck, it's not going to work with yours until it's programmed. Also, there are some remotes that will not work. Not everything is interchangable...

How did you try to program the new remote, and what is the part number on the back of the remote?
