I Need To Vent About Sony Customer Service

Recently I sent out my cd deck to sony to have it exchange for another one because of the display being distortated. The woman on the phone said I would be geting a refurbished one. She claimed that they are inspected more then the new ones. Well I get this refurbished one. The display is all good and everything. I pop in about 6 cds and it will not play any of them!!!! So I call sony saying that I want a Brand New one in replacement of this refurbished one. The guy told me that he was puting me in for a new one. But It turns out that sony is going to send me another refurbished one according to the woman at the exchange center. So said only a suoivisor could make the descion to give me a new one. So I call back sony and get this level customer support and they tell me that they can not give me a new one. This is such bull... I have called sony about 4 times now. they are at least paying for the shipping cost for me to send back the unit. What do I do? I am so pissed and I do not want another "Refurbished" one. Does it cost money for me to contact the better buiness bureu?

I ran into something very similar. I bought one of their peices of crap and less than a couple of months later, it started skipping for now reason. Just sitting still it would skip. So I called them and they told me to either mail it in or take it to a Sony service center. So I took it in and got it back and less than a couple weeks later, same thing. So I called their wonderful tech support and they told me to mail it in. A few weeks later, they sent me a totally different radio. A much different and ugly radio that cost over $100 less. I called them up furious. I was so pissed off it wasnt funny. He told me that they gave me a radio that would cost that same when I would have bought it when I bought my original. BULLSH$T!!!!! I told him I dont want it, I just want my money back. I dont think my money should have depreciated that much when I didnt have a working radio for even 4 months. And I dont think I should accept a radio that I think is ugly. My dumba$$ ended up taking an 2 year extended warranty on it and calling it good. I should have fought it to the end I think its a crock. Thats a shame cause I own all Sony in my house and I am very pleased. I just wont buy car stereo equipment from them anymore. I am currently looking at Alpine right now. Thats my rant. I totally understand where your coming from.
 






i only have one good thing to say about sony radios: they have an excellent tuner in them. um, yeah; that would be it. the "door" on the newer models to insert a CD; WTF? looks more like the radio has an eyebrow over the display.
 






Sony should not be doing car audio...plain and simple.
 






sony is good for 2 things - tv's and home theater.
 






ive always hated sony and this wont help them out
 






My sony VAIO laptop is at bestbuy for the 4th time in less than a year. That's a piece of crap.
