Hi everyone I'm so confused about tires because I hear one thing from here and another from there.

Well I have a stock unlifted 98 4 door limited with 235/75/15 firestones on it and i want to buy a set of bfg at ko's in 31/10.50/15

I heard this is a 6% increase in tire height and this could possibly prematurely wear out ball joints, tie rod ends, U-joints etc etc.

Is this true would I need a lift to compensate for the new 31" tires or would it be fine ?

Please reply ASAP as I'm looking to install new tires this week !!

Thanks

youll do fine.....i went 31 with my stocker, however you may need to trim the plastic wheel well lining.

You'll be fine. I ran 32's stock on my truck. I have put add-a-leaf's in and I am still running 32's with no problem. Don't worry about it. Tons of people here have and are running 31's without a problem.

Thanks guys

That makes me feel better because i really want 31 " bfg's on my truck.

One more thing to consider is that i have 15" rims and i know that the newer (2000) limiteds have 16" rims . Would having my 15" rims still be o.k. and not cause premature wear ?

The stock 15" rims will be just fine. As long as you don't put 12.5" wide tires on the stock rims, the tires will wear fine. In fact, 31x10.5s are my next move on my 15 inch stock rims.

I'm running the exact tire you want on my 15" stock rims. No problems at all. Stock suspension too. They look a lot better than the stock tire size also.

yep, 31x10.50x15 will be no problem with stock 15" wheels. one of the first mods i did when i bought my truck was put on 31x11.50x15 tires, no problems at all with stock wheels, stock height, etc etc. truck looked and handled a whole lot better too.
