They're nice trucks except for the pricetag and the availalability of parts and such. I used to really want a defender 90 till i saw the pricetag and i didnt want one so much after that.

I've always wanted a '92 Range Rover, but for the same reason as Doug, I have an Explorer. But excellent choice! I looove the looks of 'em. No one else seems to though, but who cares about them, right?

I saw on Car and driver tv that some of the new Land Rovers are sharing parts with the Explorer. Is this true?

I'd make sure theres a local shop that will work on it. Our shop is the only one in our county who works on Rovers.

Thats the problem, finding someone who will work on it. Reliability and poor quality isn't so much a problem on the Defender as on the other models.

Go for it, the 110 is a rare beast...

i've got a land rover dealer about 10 minutes from my house with a big service depart ment but I woulden't bring my110 there unless I wanted to have my self really ripped off I'd think I'd work on it my self for the most part.
I've had my explorer for a year and have only take it to a shop once for an alignment

and I have replaced oil nurmerous times all my filters tranny fluid. diff fluid.
radiator. belt and tensioner. intake gaskat.
done a 3inch body lift. and rebuilt my leaf spring.s with new add aleafs.
and a whole bunch more. I thin the only thing I woulden't do or attempt is to rebiuld the tranny.
I'd try to rebiuld my engine though. when it comes time
:D

like others, i really wanted a D90 at one time. they have a certain "coolness" factor like an early bronc or a binder. came down to the way too much $$$ factor, and the fact that i couldnt get parts at Napa/'Zone.

I'd say the spares are fairly plentiful. There are several clubs and shops around the country that cater to them. However if you don't mind mail order, the UK has a plethora of sources for new/used parts.

Here's a pic of my Series 3. (I'd wanted a 110 but still have to wait 5 years before they can be imported, plus the ones stateside cost too much.)

why would you have tyo wait 5 years before importing states side?? curious

A twenty-five year constraint on importing vehicles from overseas that don't meet US spec. After that age they are less strict on meeting DOT standards. (i.e bumpers/seats structure etc.)
The first One Tens came out in 1984. (Ninety's a bit later)
