I want to flush my Transmision fluid

That's what I paid to get a FULL flush done. Even for the going rate of $30 more, I'd pay it for a full flush.

Hmm, I thought that that is what I was getting. Ive got a 5.7 pontiac that he did two weeks prior and got 10 quarts through it. Did they run some type of cleaner through yours?

No, I just did a flush.

I got a quote from my dealer about a month ago for $179. They do flush the entire transmission. Mine is an '02 4.6L. This seems to be a lot of money considering it doesn't even have a filter to replace, only a screen to clean.

It's a little bit high, but not outrageous. As with all services, price varies with location.

02 explorer does have a filter

I planning on changing my fluid and filter (no flush). I had the flush done at 110,000 miles because it was slipping, and it solved problem. But now I have 230,000 miles, and runs great, but I'm kinda scared to do it because I don't want to cause problems. I thought I'd just pull pan change filter and whatever fluid came out and do again in about 5,000 to 10,000 miles. So is it just a screen or a kit, if it's a screen can I just clean it with something or do I buy new? I'm probably stressing about this too much, but can't afford new tranny right now.

Gte it done by the dealer. Worth the extra price as they can monitor levels to make sure it is filled correct. The non-dealer shop I use for all other maintenance sent me to the dealer for this one. I think the book recommends 100k for tranny service, though I just did mine at 50k. Price was a little over $200 at my L/M dealer.
