i want to put a few mods for now in to my explorer

No, the XB is the WHOLE unit. But about the boost level, I can drive all day and not hit any boost. It's just how hard you press into the throttle. The ratio on the supercharger gear to impellar gear is somewhere around 3.45:1 on both of them, so neither one would make you top out quicker just by the s/c alone. It all depends on the temp and weather.

so for the link i posted im guessing the XB is $2,195 just for the head unit on its own?

Yep, no brackets, just the unit.

FYI... the only transmission offered with the V8s was the 4 speed 4R70W trans. The extra "shift" you felt was the torque converter locking.

3rd gear: Selector in "D", O/D "off", is 1:1

but in third with O/D off it shoudl redline right? mine shifts over (not sure since after dougs new reprograming without the limiter)

thanks for that info on the extra shift feeling.

Not sure, I haven't taken my truck to redline in that situation.

my truck shifted in to O/D at 110, then it doesnt accelerate after that. but on the dyno it peaked 120

i dont get it, why do i seem to be limited... Spindlecone we need to meet up some time to figure it out.

well i was thinking of what i could do, and the only things i could think of are: new plug wires and spark plugs, and a new rear end (or regearing it, but to what i dont know), then theres fuel injectors, but i doubt needing new ones.

also i was thinking i should get a compression test to see if there is something wrong internally.(how much would this cost?)
i might go back to the dyno shop to see if i could get the A/F ratio, maybe somethings wrong there.

or maybe its my transmission, in which i would be screwed

suggestions?

A compression test is a simply DIY project; don't pay someone to do it.

Definately take a hard look at the A/F ratio.

Good luck .........

i knew the compression test coudl be done myself, but i didnt want to go off and buy the compression gauge... but then it would be nice because i could do both my cars... well ill have to find the gauge first

My truck would shift automatically into OD right aroud 95 mph. My 95 ohv never did this and neither did my moms 00 sohc. When I had the chip in it would run to 5500 in 3rd at about 110-115

well all i know is if i have to take the engine apart to fix a compression issue, ill just rebuild the motor completely with new performance parts.

boomin, before you had the SC were you able to exceede 110?

on my X, my tuner found something in the programming where if you are trying to do a run and have the O/D off, it will try to shift anyways, so it seems like you are just hitting a wall. almost like a fuel cut or speed limiter is the feeling. he had to call SCT to ask them about it, but they got it figured out...on the dyno, my X went from hitting 110 to 128mph in 3rd gear...might want to have him check that...

well i was limited to 105 (in 4th) now its a 110 limit with a 4th gear shift.

but then like i said, didnt seem limited on the dyno cuz i was told it hit 120+

ill let doug know

the other thing you need to take into account, is that you don't have the same load on the dyno as you do on the street. you are not dealing with the weight of the vehicle and you are not dealing with the drag coefficient either, just food for thought as to why it might make a difference on the street...

yeah i was considering that. but to lose all power after shifting in to 4th is odd, i mean if it climbed slowly after that i wouldnt worry about it much, but it just stops.

then again i got a lot less mods than you, so that could be another reason. my assumption is i dont have the power to push through that wall of air thats pushing back. but then theres explorers with possibly less power being able to go faster than me.

ill save my story for doug till after i do a compression test and a A/F ratio.

would i need a aftermarket chip to get someone to dyno tune my truck? or could they do it on the stock chip?

yes, but before i did all of this, it was bone stock, and it would still pull after shifting into fourth...

you will have to get an aftermarket chip/flasher. i have the Superchips Xcalibrator2...it works flawlessly. this will also make difference in the power of the vehicle...

Is the EX running okay? Do you have a rev limiter that engages still?
What were your baseline numbers before the flasher and after(believe you have had two runs)
By all means ck all you can ck as to Comp. etc, your A/F ratio is a good number to know also.
When at the Dyno you can watch the monitor and see the max speed but thats not what the test is for, they shut down when max HP and TQ is made not speed.
As said above man your driving a 5000 lbe sled, would not be to fixated on not being able to surpass 110 on the street, thats insane.
If the EX is running well and the perf is what you would expect with your mods, than I would think all is okay.
Not that I recommend it but if on the street you hit 110 and you think it's a speed limeter problem you will know it, The engine will not be running smoothley, it will cutout and buck, thats what limiters do, good luck

it does cut off. Ex still runs perfectly fine. no buck after it hits 110, just a feeling of loss of power

both runs were with the flasher, one was with a 95mph limiter, the other was with a 110mph limiter.

before changing the headers out i used to get this huge surge of power when it shifted in to 4th causing a pop in my speakers, but now with the Torquemonsters i dont get it anymore.

compression test will have to wait till next thursday/friday (i hope nothings wrong)

i only hit 110 on the freeway when theres no one around, or theres hardly any cars

Explaine what you mean, it cuts Off(rev limiter?)
You say you had limiters with both flasher tunes, Why?
Did you tell doug to remove the limiters?
What were your Dyno numbers?
In your flasher tune, if you have a 110 limiter, your limited to 110, plain and simple.
If the Dyno guys said you hit 120 on the dynojet and your odo will only read 110, maybe you have a tire size change issue
Dunno man, is very confusing

well on the streets, at 110, it shifts, then im stuck at 110. its acting the same as when i had the 95mph limiter, it shifts over then no go.
odo reads 120
tire size is close to that of stock tires, only difference is the weight
