I was told by a couple of guys in my last post that problem my truck sometimes doesn't stay running is the IAC valve. So I will try to clean it or even replace. Okay, now for the big question: Where is IT ??? Could someone direct to information on the where abouts of the IAC, and replacement procedure. I have a 99 sport 6 cyl.
I really appreciate all the help....Thanks.......SDRT

Assuming that you have the SOHC engine, just remove the plastic cover on top of the throttle body (4 small bolts). It is practically front and center, a small canister looking thing. I wish I had a picture, but maybe someone else can post one.

This is a picture from an OHV engine I believe, but the IAC looks the same.

Where is it on the 5.0?

It's on the left side of the top of the engine near the intake assembly. It's got two bolts (10mm I think) holding it on and a wire harness plugged into it. It's also got a gasket when you take it off. Total replacement time is 5 minutues.

here's what it looks like
