What if you drilled a hole (all the way through to the inside, inbetween the two wheel bearings) from the out side of the rotor (between the disc part and the lug bolt part) and installed a grease fitting.

That way all you would have to do is remove the tire and put the grease gun on the fitting and it would pump the inside of the rotor and both wheel bearings full of grease. That way you wouldnt have to remove the wheels, brakes, hubs, rotor, etc.. to get to the wheel bearings to repack them.

Kind of like what are on trailer wheel bearings, except insted of the fitting being on the bearing cap the fitting is on the rotor.

What do yall think?

That would be an awful lot of bearing grease.. I don't think that much grease comes in a normal size can. Even then, that would only be a stop gap.. The ones on trailers cannot be used exclusivly(sp?). Every other time you grease the bearings you must do it the old fashioned way or the bearings won't last.

It is an idea.. it might be enough to help your bearing last a little longer if you go through deep water.. just pump it full of grease and then change it when you can.. Just not sure if it is worth it.. (I can change bearings in about 30 minutes a side)

gotta remember though, packing the bearings isn't just sticking grease in there, to do it right you gotta get the bearings in your hands and get that grease down into every tiny little groove. Believe me, I have to regrease mine constantly.

I wouldn't try to drill a hole in to your hub. first off if you would you would have to tear down the hub to get the shayings out. if you didn't it would eat up the bearings fast. Second when you would purge the grease out of the hub the seal would be broken and water and dirt would get in Third grease only slowly brakes down and wont need to be changed so the bearing repacking is more for removing dirt and water that gets in. There are high grads of grease that will take more shock loads but if water or dirt gets in there no better. What I use at work is Kendel EBL I dont know were to buy though. I best I can say is do it the old fashion way and keep every thing CLEAN

Bad idea...

You need to visually inspect the bearings regularly on the D35.
