This is my first X sport, and it is stock. I want the wheel wells to be filled with rubber. I have read lots of threads, but would like a specific answer, please, fellas.
This is all new to me. I have read that almost all tires have different dimensions (even beyond their "stated size"). Does anyone happen to know what the maximum tire dimensions that i can run without rubbbing anything serious? Also, what about changing wheel backspacing? Is it okay to widen her stance that way? I also saw these things called wheel spacers. Are these bad ideas, or what?

-one more thing.... anyone know how I tell if it has 2 or 4 wheel abs?

Thanks in advance

First off just wanted to Say welcome to the site. If you are looking to fill up the wheel well I think you would be happy with some 31x10.50x15's. They will fill up the wells nicely without rubbing. A 31x10.50x15 is as large as you can go with out rubbing with the suspension stock. Changing backspacing may cause so problems with rubbing. The only way to really know what will work with your explorer it to try out different combos and go with what you like. I am pretty sure you have 2 wheel abs but I might be wrong on that one.

Well Jake, I have a 93 sport and when it was stock I was only able to run 30-9.5-15's. I would stay away from wheel spacers unless you are going to spend around 300, but for that you could go with some 15x8 after market wheels that would have more back spacing.

Hey thanks, I am so glad to have found this site. My wife is jealous of how much time i spend reading threads here. I have plans for mods, they just cost so much money. Wait and see though, dude. I WILL have an elite explorer.......

Yeah my wife too...lol :)

Good luck with the mods.

Well I know for sure that some 31x10.5's do run a little wider in the shoulder. My goodyears are just fine, but my winter tires have a wider shoulder and will sometimes rub. They are both 31x10.5's
