My 97 explorer with the SOHC V6 has a mess of problems.

Ok so it idiles kind of rough. It also has a lower idile speed than normal. It surges from time to time and even stalls once a day. I've heard maybe the idiling air control valve? Also something about an intake seal? It does have a slight hesitating problem.

Thanks for the help.

My guess is the IAC valve. Try cleaning it first to see if that helps, but it may not do the trick (Didn't work for me...had to replace it).

Me again...Try cleaning the IAC. it gets gunked up and can cause your X to have a rough idle. Have you done a tune up lately? things like plugs, wires, fuel filter etc.....

beat me to it chaps...:D

Its had a fuel filter. Plugs and wires no cause money has been really tight. Thanks for the help. Where is the IAC at? And what do I clean it with?

It should be bolted to the side of your throttle body (cylinder shape). Clean it with throttle body cleaner.
