idle problem 98 explorer

went to move the x this morning and I started it and the rpm jumped to 2000 . it only goes down when the ing the wheel to the left or having the a.c. on . what could be the problem .

I'd hook up an OBD2 scan tool capable of showing live data, assuming your check engine light isn't on.

thanks it ended up being a sensor under the engine cover I unpluggd it and pluggd it in and it started working normally
