Ok let me explain my situation... I want to get a shift kit for my truck and I can't figure out what tranny I have. I have a 95 but it says T which I think means the A4LD.

Now I need all of you with 1st gens to check and see what your tranny code is NOW!!!

a 95 is a second gen

i know but they come with both 4r55e's and a4ld's so im trying to figure out what the code for al4d is

I've been looking, and haven't come up with much. In Ranger's "T" can mean A4LD, 4R44E, or 4R55E.

Hmmmmm. It may come down to crawling under there and seeing if your tranny has a vacuum hookup (A4LD) or is totally electric (4R55E).

And i just dropped the damn thing off at the shop for a fluid change. oh well i will wait for tomorrow for that

Tranny fluid change?

Ask them the stupid question of what tranny you have. And then decide if what they say is BS or if they actually know

yeah im just trying to get a shift kit by this weekend because of the sale at www.truckperformance.com.

Ok I just remembered that when I put my gauges in on the part where the PRND21 is it says A4LD. I would guess thats what I have but does anyone have a picture of an A$LD tranny in or out of their truck?

mine doesnt look like that... however my moms 96 has that pattern....

my 94 with a4ld --- P R N OD D 2 1
moms 96 with ? --- P R N D 2 1 pushbotton OD on column stalk

OK the pics do the justice! I still dont kow why I have the T in the door though.

could it be a 4r44e?

I've never heard of a 4R44E in the X.

It's the 4R55E, so get the totally electronic BM ;) That's why you wanted to know, right? :D

oops

4R55E garunteed!! I never understood that orange sticker on the bottom though. My dad is set to the idea that it was placed on there because it was rebuilt. But I don't think.

The sticker was put there so that Ford would get the complete assembly back in order to determine any causes for failure. Any manufacturer can only do so much performance testing and they can never hope to truly duplicate all circumstances.

Ergo. introductory assemblies are generally not serviced in the field but are returned so that the engineers can inspect them to determine if "running changes" are needed.
