If you were going to buy a new Explorer, what year would you buy?

What year would buy if you were upgrading? And why?

Feel free to post your reasons for your choice.

You may select more than one.

Looking at getting a new (or used) Explorer and just curious what the consensus might look like.

05 V8 if possible, 04 if not. No 02 or 03. Enhancements made to the 02 and 03 models under the hood make them better. IMO. I don't like the interior on the 4th gens. Do like the seats.
5th gens look cool, but I can't call them Explorers. They just don't resemble them anymore. Built on the Taurus chassis I hear.

I voted 2010 based on the options available. Wouldn't pay the price tag though.

I would go for an 06-10 V-8 Explorer/Mountaineer, or a Nissan Xterra/Pathfinder or Toyota 4Runner.

We have a 2004 XLS that we have had numerous problems with, including an engine replacement after the cam chains failed at around 50,000 miles.

Call me crazy, but I just bought a 2015 Explorer to park alongside it!

I would only buy another one with a 5.0 V8 in it!

Considering the problems these trucks have it's the last time I buy a Ford.

I recommend Honda Pilot.

considering that the engineering for the explorer were made by the accounting department (POS engineering) and not real engineers, most of the people voted for something else but explorer .. if they are built by engineers then I can say they need to go back to college and study more..
